Brake bias?

Dan

Ok, I know on normal FWD cars and the like, the front brakes do most of the work. Is this true on the Vee? Because if I ever have a, shall we say, spirited, drive home, and walk round the car the rear brakes feel as hot as the fronts, and seem to make the same amount of dust as well?

Thoughts?

Your brakes should work the same as a normal configured front engine car as the physics are the same although you could argue the rears could be under a slight increased load at low speed. If you are braking heavily most the weight goes straight to the front hence those lovelly big brakes we get as standard.
I recently had a similar fault with mine, the rears were getting hot after relatively short runs and producing a high level of brake dust, I spoke to Renault they said they were fine after inspection and 800 miles or so later the discs and pads were shot and after much more argueing they fitted new discs pads and calipers claiming that they had internal faults. I have much reduced brake dust compared to the fronts now.
When you let the car come to a hault without braking do you feel the point the car stops to have any abruptness or bite? hard to explain but the car should feel relaxed and free and I'm not talking herbal remedies! If not the brakes could be binding very slightly.

Hope this helps, certainly I wouldn't expect the same amount of dust on the rear as the front?

No they don't seem to be binding, as they're not getting hot after long journeys and stuff - and even after heavy braking the car can still roll around freely. Maybe it's just me been paranoid heh.
