Bodywork & Spare Panels

Hey All,

I've been considering getting a few spare bits such as front and rear bumper and maybe a side skirt or two.
Obviously its not like you can still get hold of them from Renault which brings me to these :

Does anybody have experience with stuff like this?
Is it the sort of thing that's utterly terrible when you come to fit it?

No doubt visually by the time its painted up it would be fine but just have my doubts with regards fixtures and stuff.
Id certainly like a few spare panels to go with my ever growing V6 collection.

I'd suggest that these replica/duplicate panels will be available for ever-and-a-day. I certainly wouldn't waste your cash stocking them.

You may be able to still buy those bits new from Renault for a ph1. I'd move swiftly though if you want them.

as Kett says, not worth stocking the repros.

I have now completed moulds for Phase 2 Front bumpers and both wings, back bumper buck sorted and also side pods. The mouldings are Kevlar and carbon fibre reinforced as needed as the originals are basically very weak due to the technology used to mass produce them. As said before, there is no real need to hoard replicas, I can produce to order and will be systematically working through both Ph1 and 2s to ensure that people can keep their pride and joy in one piece! Where I feel that replicas come into their own is when you remove the OEM unit and store it so that the replica takes all the risks. One further benefit is that the replicas can be repaired, should also in future be able to offer a full repair service for damaged OEM panels as well :approve:
The panels that we are producing are dimensionally correct and will be pretrimmed as we have drilling and cutting jigs sorted so that there is no risk when you get a moulding that is rough finished. likewise will also be offering the Styrofoam mounting insert and two small fixing brackets.
Having looked at several damaged panels, regularly damage is transmitted through the fixings between wing and bumper, I will be experimenting with mine to use plastic bolts to act as a weakened shear bolt type fixing to see if this can stop this transmission and so reduce repair cost and risk.
I have also been looking at using elastomers for all or part of the bumper and a trip to Germany earlier in the year has given me food for thought!! We are presently working on a composite pipe repair capable of holding back over 200 bar pressure at 120 degrees so bumpers should be pretty straight forwards!!

Kermit's panels have already been resurrected but were not quite good enough to make moulds, so to Frog lovers all over he will live again! Any one who has phase 1 panels in good order that can be borrowed these would be appreciated!
By the way, the panels you are looking at on Fleabay are SPANISH!! Caveat emptor!

Top stuff Simon!

When I saw the prices for the original front wing and bumper when my Ph1 was backed into I was so shocked! No wonder insurance companies are writing them off once they crash.

You can have my front bumper Simon. Needs an easy repair at the bottom to make good though. My front end needs respraying so you can be as heavy handed with it as you like.

This is great news Simon   I'm sure your work will be very much appreciated [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]
