BMC CDA vs Pipercross Viper

Ive noticed recently a few people are putting induction kits on there v6s, im after one myself and apart from the obvious things like the price can any body recommend which one to go for out of the BMC CDA and ther pipercross viper ,just wanna make sure i get the right one for my clio
Thanks

I have a pipercross and it looks the bees knees. The inlet duct piping is nice and thick and it looks almost as if it were meant to be. Performance wise it makes a good improvement probably similar to the BMC CDA - Noise wise is excellent really lets the engine make itself heard. I think the BMC might be slightly louder.

I was put off the BMC by the ducting that came with it - I thought it was to small and made of cheap tin foil stuff. This was a while ago tho.

Si

Cheers mate still in two minds at the mo, probably will go with the pipercross but just wanted to be sure i dont make the wrong decison :D

I couldn`t make my mind up nearlly a year ago untill i was round mike t`s and he convinced me about the quality etc of the BMC over the pipercross....the bmc outdoes the pipercross 200% in the quality but performance wise all i can say is i love the noise and noticed a gain from the BMC

There was a guy on the cliosport forum who fitted a Pipercross and had problems with it always coming loose so he replaced it with a BMC. I've got a BMC and am very happy with it so far. I'm sure they're both much the same and they both make a nice noise at the end of the day!

Does the BMC still come with the tin foil inlet piping??
Just wondering as I always thought that this would heat soak from the engine bay??

Haha, all this talk about induction kits. Can't wait until July when I can get new insurance, and start modifying my car without paying extortionate prices to Admiral.

BMC CDA will be my first mod. :)

How much louder is it over standard mate?

might have to get myself one 8)

A fair bit. 8) Dunno how to quantify it tho! :? It is VERY noticeable immediately tho. Before i always felt the engine sounded very "muted". Now there's a lovely growl! Jam your foot hard down and it growls menacingly!

It makes me wanna thrash her!

I think you just made my mind up :D

Took me a while to fit it though. Taking all the trim off is easy enough but getting the new filter in place took a while and a few mangled fingers! :x

The supplied bendy piping doesn't fit the cold air feed from the side scoop either. :x I had to use the existing skanky pipe with the new one running down inside it with the join clamped. Shame cos the rest fitted nicely! Hardly F1 style install!

Worth it though the first time you put your foot down! :D

Peter :)

I have the PiperX on mine and im happy with it, I initally had problems with the aluminium being so soft when you tightened the jubilee clips it would just bend the alloy, however, i made up a quick fix for that and now its perfect, the noise is sensational, especially with my backbox..of what origin i dont know, definately not a standard one though!

peter...have you tried nailing it in 2nd and 3rd with the passenger window down?? you will wet your pants mate!! :D:D

i find the bmc sounds best at low revs, put your foot down hard at sat 2000 rpm and makes a very deep growl the higher the revs the less i can hear the induction kit, if i want someone to notice the car i go into 3rd at about 20mph and put foot down and get a really really deep growl.

in fact im finding that i am changing gears much earlier now so i can get that deep growl at low revs.. anyone else notice this with theirs??

I ended up doing exactly the same with my CDA - is there anyone else who's fitted one that has got round this?

kieron, the PiperX comes into life at about 2k with a low down snarl, fairly noisy..but it builds and builds and at 7000rpm the noise is very loud indeed!

Just ordered my BMC CDA £165.24 hopefully I wont be dissapointed, was going to get the pipercross but not sure about the quality and most peeps have said go for the BMC.

Soon as it comes and I fit it ill let you know what i think.

Thanks everybody for helping me make my mind up
