Finally got all the bits I need to start re-assembly of this bad lad now.. so started with what I know best, the cleaning!!
Stripped the intake manifolds off:
Not sure why I seem to have a little bit of oil between the gaskets.?
Eurgh… that dirt offends my OE Eyes
Let the Jet washing & degreasing commence:
Dry off in the sun, and then cover the existing rust with Rust Eater:
Engine Block Enamel ordered:
Whipped the sump off this morning to change the gasket, and clean out the bottom (The F4r engine doesn’t fully drain ALL of the oil when you do a change, and on my 182, there was some nasty looking sludge in the bottom of the pan, so I wanted to check that this one was clean)
Thankfully everything looked pretty good in the sump, of course I gave it a bit of a clean up:
And the everything looked ok in the bottom of the engine:
The injectors on the other hand, don’t look all too clever…!! Covered in black oil/carbon/sh1te they’ve seen better days, and the o-rings, also look all hard & crusty.. I’ve removed them to be sent to Injectortune for a clean up and check over:
Decided against getting the front Hub Assemblies vapour blasted now I’ve had brand new OEM bushes installed into them. Figured that the new bushes would be destroyed.
So decided to give them a quick “home refurb” also so set up my stall (well a table outside the front of the garage, where the winter sun was still shining)
Think you’ll agree that a bit of Elbow Grease has improved them somewhat!!
All the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together now
