Avon tyres??

Anyone had any experience with Avon tyres, i phoned to get a quote for 2 michelins and he recommended the Avon as being very grippy but not as durable as the michelin. Any experience on length of service I can expect and performance?

I had Avon ZZ1's on my GT4 a few years back - they really were the worst tyre I ever had.

The car was 4wd so usually you expect good grip even on budget tyres but the having the Avons meant, in the wet especially, I literally had to drive like a grandad and I mean slower than the Vee !

I am sure many of their other tyres are OK but I won't be ever trying Avons again.

Funny how a brand perception can destroyed by a single experience - for me it was that bad though.

Its the Avon ZZ3's.

I've just had a quick glance at a few reviews on the tinternet and it seems they get a mixed reaction. Avon say they are exceptional in wet conditions as you expect and user reviews seem to say they are unsteady until after a few hundred miles.

Considering I am still yet to experience a Vee in wet conditions I am wondering if i should go for the michelin.
