Atmo or turbo ?

After a few years lurking amongst the Gt turbo's i've decided to have a gordini 5 project for the winter.

I am after a little advice on what to do though..

I bought 2 5's off the same fella, one is a tired turbocharged track car that has a good engine etc but the body is well past its best, the other a very low mileage 'gordini atmo that needs a bit of welding but has the basis to be a really good car.

The question is... is it worth putting the turbo running gear into this car ( basicaly turn it into the turbo version ) or leave as the atmo.

Not sure on the advantages and disadvantages between them, any helpful comments received with thanks...

coleman, me old mukka! how is it going?

the atmo is rarer than the turbo, but you will miss the turbo rush if you stick with the N/A engine....
its a tough call.
personally it reshell the turbo.

Depends a bit on your driving style and what you want to use the car for.
Either way its lots of fun!! :D

If you decide to get rid of any bits please let me know as i am considering turning a 1108cc into a Gordini

hi sparkie, thanks for the comments.. still unsure what to do when the time comes.

As you say i think i would miss the turbo element so that could be the way forward, there will be parts off the track car for sale as it will be getting binned so i'll keep you in mind spryboy

Welcome!Go Atmo group2 style.Twin 40s etc more fun without the fear of melt down.

I agree with clit-erousino, Atmo is the way forward no lag etc...... I have owned 7+ turbo dni and now I am in the process in building an atmo, which will be completed in 2020 together with all my other projects. :?

My 5 Atmo Historic rally project has twin 40s and the potential for good performance (see my other thread).

I am in no rush to finish the project, that is the great thing about restoring a car, it never dates if the rest of your life gets busy for a while!

Check out this French forum, to see what is happening with tuned Atmo 5s over there:
