Apec brake PADS

Morning all,

I’ve just fitted some Apec front discs as recommended on here, nice and easy to source from the local motor factors.

I currently have Red Stuff pads but I’m thinking about changing them also, I’ve driven 15 miles on the new discs and have some score marks on them, in my opinion this isn’t normal and the whole disc face should be covered.

Anyway they stock Apec pads so the question is are they ok, only for road use as won’t be going on any tracks?

Were these new Red stuff pads fitted at the same time as the discs ?
I use red stuff pads but I've only used them with OEM discs so have no idea of the wear quality of Apec discs.
No issues at all with red stuff and OEM discs.

Yea they were both fitted at the same time, I changed the discs as they were so noisy, like they were rusty but they weren’t that bad really.

I just think the pads and discs were not used enough.

I was looking at the Apec pads as I could get them straight away but if they are known to be poor even with normal use I’ll give them a miss and probably get a new set of red stuff.

EBC pads have an abrasive coating to bed the pads in so that is the cause of the ‘scoring’ this is to ensure optimum performance, so quite normal :approve:

I fitted APEC discs and Red Stuff, I just went out and bedded them in with increasing speed/pedal pressure. Discs are lovely and smooth after a thousand miles or so.

I think my red stuff are dead as the new discs are scored.

I’ll have to replace the pads and discs again I think.

I’ll get a pic of the old ones as the car is having some paint done this week.

The new ones are 20 miles old and don’t look to clever already.

Speak to EBC technical in Northampton, something is seriously wrong from the sound s of it, they are normally very helpful and if it is a pad problem will usually get it sorted, :approve:
