A decent set of coilovers on their phase one?

interested to know what difference it made...

I'm torn between buying a phase 1 or a 1986 porsche 911...

if the suspension makes a good deal of difference handling wise, i may be persuaded...

I have he KW 3 way variants. Only only drove my car for few miles n std suspension thenm waited a few monhs before i drove her on KW's so i really cannot compare the two I amafraid. However, my car feels extremely planted and solid. I am runing after market 18's and the ride height is lovely and sencible too!

I've also got KW Variant 3 on my Mk1. The car is used mainly as a track day car and I spent 1 year or so on standard kit before moving to the KW.

I have a DL1 datalogger in the car and I had solid evidence that the KW kit significantly improved my lap times and cornering speeds.

Wish I could but this was 2 years ago which is a lifetime in IT terms so that laptop/software combination has gone to the great IT god in the sky.

I do still have the DL1 though so re-running the tests is a definite possibility.

It would be interesting to do the following test...

Get x volunteers 1 x Mk1 standard, 1 x Mk 2 standard, 1 x Mk 1 on KW, 1 x Mk 1 on Leda or other

Pick a track and driver who we a) know and b) trust

Bung the DL1 in the car and do some testing

I know when I was regularly using the DL1 I was seeing regular improvement due to familiarity (did my testing at Donington) and incremental improvements when I did things like moving to KW and then stripping the weight out of the car. What is a shame is that I did'nt do any testing following the cage installation because that has made the car noticably stiffer...
