Another Mars Red Mk2

Yeah its on ebay, cat D too!

These phase 2 cars were built by Renault at the Alpine factory in Dieppe and were extensively reworked including engine modifications by Porsche, gearbox upgrades, chassis refined in short the phase 2 rendered the previous car obsolete. No expense was spared by Renault in building these cars (like VW with the Bugatti Veyron) and the build cost was 3 times the selling price! In short you are buying a piece of automotive history ,a car Jeremy Clarkson said he would have to have in his garage and lets face it he has driven the best supercars in the world.

Really? Unless thats bollocks i really didnt know that!

I knew that Renault never made any money on the vee but didn't realise they cost that much to build [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

All quite true. The V6 engine was given to Porsche Engineering to extract more power, achieved mainly in the head and manifold areas. This resulted in a 255bhp unit.

To add another note .... the leather ended up costing Renault twice as much than they sold it for on the i.d scheme, no wonder it was stopped quickly.

AND

I remember hearing the Renault technicians headed over to see the lotus technicians with the plans/concept for the vee. After a cuppa and a look at the ideas the lotus guys decided to play hide and seek, shame the Renault guys never did find them again and had to just do it themselves.
