Another Coil Thread!!

Hi guys, just went through replacing two failed coils (on my phase 2) using the very helpful guide in the Engine forum, and was just wondering what happens next?? I am pretty sure the car is running as normal now, but the Engine light remains on. It will dissapear for a split second shortly after starting up but just comes back and stays!! Cheers, Ned

Hi Dan..

Two options..

Firstly.. take it to a Renault dealer and have ya trousers pulled down while they re-set it..

Secondly... it'll reset itself and go out in a few miles. :wink:

Ah ok nice one. Dont fancy number one That much, but have driven a short while with no effect, The car now runs as it was before, and each coil pack makes a noticeable difference to the engine note, can i damage anything by driving it,. and checking periodically that im firing on all cylinders?

May try option 3 placing a big sticker on the dash window in my line of sight with the warning light!!

By the way I found the Valeo replacement units from GSF to be a smidge over £20 plus VAT which wasnt too harsh.

I took the vee out for a spin to see if the emissions light would go out following a coil replacement, for the record I clocked 55 miles before it went out.
