Peter does it sometimes feel like your fighting a losing battle?

and they read this forum!

As I said I am right! They should pay! It is a disgrace that a part which is clearly faulty is not recalled and replaced.

As I said in my mail if it were brakes that were failing and people dying the view would be different eh? But is the scenario really different?

You can take legal action via the small claims court.

They do have a liability when they supply goods that have an enhearent fault.

You would also win your case under "Latent Defects" this lasts far longer than the warranty.

You cannot report a fault such as a coil as you cannot see the fault, therefore when it fails within a short time they have to repair or replace.

You would expect a coil to operate up to 100,000 hours MTBF.

Well lets see what they come back with.

I think we need to group together on this one guys (n gals  ) and push for something more formal from Renault.

I want some answers!

Dear Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for your email.

I am sorry that you were still unhappy with my response. I can only apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

Renault were aware of a faulty batch of coils in certain Renault Clio's. However, the batch of coils we were aware of, did not relate to the Clio V6 model. The Clio V6, used a different type of coil, to the batch that was affected.

As previously advised, once the warranty has expired we will consider all claims from a gesture of goodwill point of view. We will take into consideration the overall age and mileage of the vehicle as well as ownership and servicing details. There is no obligation from the manufacturer to offer a gesture of goodwill.

While we consider requests for financial support in certain cases, unfortunately we cannot agree to contribute on this occasion. I understand that this is not the response you were hoping for, but can only apologise.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at Renault Customer Services on our free phone number 0800 072 3372.

Many Thanks
Russell Stallman

Ok ... it's time for us as the largest V6 Clio owners club to take some action!

We need to redouble our efforts to gather some stats on how many of us have had a coil gone!

Then we can fashion a letter from us all!
