Alpine press release. Renault sport news

Interesting that Lotus are teaming up with Renault for ev’s. Guess it’s going to be their way into affordable ev’s as they’re probably not going to sell many Evija at around £2 million!

Agreed! I think its for a EV Elise/Exige platform. Buy in the Renault tech for the battery / propulsion and then Renault get feedback from what works in terms of driving dynamics.

I can see that working.

Was trying to think of a Renault ev that lotus could tweak, ala Lotus Carlton, Can’t think of anything already in production, doubt they’d want to do a Zoe or Twizzy.
Could see an alpine a110 being converted to electric, similar lines and platform as Elise/Exige and could be the electric performance range

Isn't it new cars not being Petrol Only? ie, Hybrid is OK?
Yes, intially. However I think manufacturers are looking longer term. EV will be the only one allowed. I think with platform sharing as well more manufactures will struggle to yield a performance variation ICE

I still think Hydrogen is the better and more greener option than batteries..
Batteries are super polluting to make both in carbon output and sheer poison factor, i'm pretty sure it's more environmentally friendly to keep my old Volvo over making a new EV for me to buy.

Hydrogen, well we can make it from water, when it's burned it produces water - so if it was easy to separate water into H2 and O2 it would be perfect. Also H storage, high pressure gas tanks in a car in a risk though not much different to LPG I guess.
If someone could crack a way to make H and O from H2O for less energy than it cost to recombine (burn) it then humanitys energy problems would be solved - but what are the chances of a point efficiency engine? Not a lot! I guess the best current tech solutions we have is Solar/Wind/Nuclear power produces the energy to make the Hydrogen that powers the cars, but it's still expensive and no infrastructure.
