Air Bag and Serv Light still on

sbturbo2

Morning,

Just preparing the v6 for the MOT, rear ABS ring fitted to drive shaft with no problems but still have my airbag light on and have been informed it is a MOT failure :( , I have had a look at the wiring without success so in desperation thinking of removing dash and taking bulbs out!! The light as far as I can tell has been on for a fair few years. Good idea or bad and has anyone done the same? I have read about sending the ECU through ebay to get reset (car has been in an accident many years ago), whether this would work I am unsure. Any advice would be appreciated as I want to get on the road again ASAP.

P.S. Running a Clio 200 Recaro seats for everyday use, great car but nothing like the V6......

It's most likely the connectors under the seats - they are like that on. Y cup. Try taking a apart and cleaning then recoil back together.

As Matt has said it will be more than likely the connector under the seat.

Did you put resistors in as i notice you have fitted different seats? Maybe worth just checking its all still secure, or try a different size resistor :approve:

NB: Taking the dash bulbs is an option but a thorough MOT'er may check that all dash lights are illuminated with pre-ignition turned on.

Ask around to find a local "friendly" MOT garage. You'll be suprised what you'll find I think.

I had the SportKa in for it's MOT last week and I was suprised at the amount of flexibility on offer once I'd agreed to buy tyres through them (which it needed anyway). This wasn't a one man, back street job operation either it was a well-known high profile place.

Id agree about the seat connectors, ive had a few play up over the years on Clios and when the fault is corrected the light goes out without the need to get the whole system re-set with special kit(renault 'Clip' or similar). Id also agree that a proper MOTer will see if the lights are on with the ignition and then go off when the engine is started. Also think about your own safety, if the air bag is on the bags may not go off if the car is in an accident.
