Aftermarket Exhaust, what are the options?

thunderstarter

New Member
been having a quick look through the forum to see what people have fitted to their Vee, and can see Quick Silver, Janspeed and Ktec (also made by Janspeed?) Orbisound.

Are there any others worth looking at that Ive missed?

Also are they same fitment between ph1 and ph2 cars? Quicksilver seem to list one exhaust for both cars.

thanks
Dan

Matt informed me at FCS that I had a Janspeed on my Ph1. After having a closer look, its not in great nick and is starting to blow. Will try and get a picture of it tomorrow and post.

Anyway, it was noisy as hell before it started blowing and driving it 200 miles last weekend to visit family was hell. Sounds good poodling around town, but not good for the ears on the motorway.

I'd like to get something (before the 4 hour drive up to the lakes meet in August!) that'll allow me to hold a conversation with my wife on the motorway without having to shout!

After searching around on both this forum and google, I found this LINK but has a bunch of old dead links.

The K-Tec LINK @ £1600 looks interesting but is it gonna be just as noisy?

What about the Protoxide LINK @ 1900 euros?

Then the Quicksilver LINK @ £690....?

I couldn't find any info on the Orbisoud exhaust and would need Matt's comments on how loud it is on a motorway.

What's the price on a standard exhaust?

Having only owned the Vee for a couple of months, the novelty of a loud exhaust is wearing thin. I'm struggling to know what to get to find that perfect balance. I don't want to replace a loud roar with another equally loud roar.

Try and track down a plastic bulkhead?

Oh and the quietest aftermarket I heard was the ktec backbox (doesn't seem to be available new anymore). No drone or real noise at cruising speed; a little roar above 4000rpm. Definitely louder than standard but was too quiet for me !!

I have a brand new ph1 janspeed one owed me by janspeed themselves, just waiting for it to be made up, i am open to offers.

had this as a pm, thought to make things clear i would post it.

Hi Spike, is this backbox the one that is discussed in the group buy section? If so, how much do you want for it? thanks Dan

No, you havent read the group buy properly, the gb is for a ph2 exhaust NOT ph1, i bought a complete system for a ph1 and never took delivery of the silencer as they don't fit the ph2.
its a ph1 std janspeed rear box with round chrome tailpipes as std, i am open to offers on the rear box so make your call, as i said its not even delivered yet so absolutely brand new, i can get them to deliver it straight to you if you wish.

i have not posted this to be nasty but to keep the offer in the open.

I don't think I'll have the time (or the dollar) to sort something out in time for the Lakes meet. I'll just have to get a temporarily fix on the blow and buy some earplugs for the 4 hour drive.

The KTec sounds appealling if it's the quietest of the bunch (with a little roar @ 4000).

Interest choice of what to go for but as its a costly excerise I need to make the right choice. Will have a chat with you guys in the Lakes and have a listen. I certainly know what Matt's sounds like!

Am I right in thinking that the current K-Tec system and the current Janspeed (NOT the ph2 group buy from Spike, but the same as the ph1 he has offered just above) are one and the same?? I believe this to still be the case.

the KTEC one is definately the same as I fitted both to my phase 1 and phase 2. Can't comment on the Janspeed. Quicksilver is also the same and fits both the phase 1 and 2.

Has anyone seen a 'fox' one ? LINK

or scarico; LINK

Think I'm the only one with the FOX Andy. Well made bit of kit from the German manufactures. Bit louder than OEM but still easy on the ear drums for the longer drives. Wasn't sure with the blanking plate provided so modified a second hand bumper.
