Aerial Base needed!

Shutler

New Member
Rubber seal round the base of my vee's aerial has perished and need a replacement.

Ive been to several different renault dealers and they cant find the correct one (even the aerial base is unique to a v6 from a regular clio mkII)

any help guys would be much appreciated :)

8200282254 Aerial base (pre radio equipted) MK2

It costs around £120 and the rubber gasket only comes with it, not a seperate part sadly.

Alan, might have a solution in a few months ;)
On-going project LOL........ Made a mould to try and make them buts it's on the back burner at the moment. I'm in the same situation as you and many other vee owners with the perished rubber seal but not willing to spend over £120 for a new one!!!!!!

First 'test' one fitted to base needs trimming etc

I just fitted a standard Clio one from the local scrap yard £4 fix and it fits. The base is slightly smaller and only had one cable (not sure what the other is for). I now have a working radio

Thanks James for the part, shame its rather expensive :(

Nice 1 Phil! keep up the good work :approve:
at £120 im sure i can wait a few months should you crack it :)

Pre-telehone equipment the other cable is for I will guess.

Update..... polished the mould and looking a lot better but still having problems with the liquid rubber!!!!!!! only getting about one good one every 5 keep getting air trapped when moulding!!!!

Anyone ever bought a new one how soft is the new rubber seal?
Through research natural rubber breaks down and 'chalks' with UV sunlight ( gets hard and brittle, loses colour etc ) so nothing to compare to :s

As another experiencing the dreaded perishing rubber seal I'm watching this thread with interest. Keep up the good work Phil :approve:

Is this not the right one then??

Says it's for the Clio II , I guess it might not have the pre-telephone equipment but does that matter??

In car phone installs when that was the craze.

or as Cold Fusion explained so technically... "It's 2 tin cans and a very long piece of string."

I would suggest you to fit the standard Clio mk2 base as per James‘ picture. It is far cheaper plus you get a complete new base. I did it myself and it works perfectly as long as you don’t need the telephone and GPS antennas.

BTW: It’s not unique v6, some of the latest Clio RS ph3 feature a built in navigation. At least those or maybe even all the ph3 have the same base.

Matt, yes they did get made and sold a few but haven't done any for quite a while. Since then a German member ( albertine ) bought up all the remaining stock of gaskets so I believe this might be what your after, LINK
