5 GT Turbo AEI/TDC Testing?

Ok all, im trying to get a spark from my car that im building up. im getting 12.5 volts to the aei down the wires. i can also read the same from testing on the terminals that you can get too through two tiny slots on the case. On cranking im getting no spark, from the tip of the coil id expect to see a shit load of volts but i only see a max of 12 there? so im thinking the coil is fecked or the tdc sensor is and not giving it a fire signal. Anything else i can check? are there any reading for the tdc sensor?

thanks in advance

Good earth at the aei as well?

Unless you've got HV probes, I wouldn't recommend trying to measure the coil's output...

Very rare that the coil fails, so check/eliminate the TDC sensor first - A resistance check across the pins should confirm all is ok, but I can't remember what it should be. I'm sure it's listed in the Haynes manual though. Couple of hundred ohms rings a bell...?

Make sure there's no sh1te on the sensor pin as well.

If all ok there, measure for resistance on the coil output & aei terminals. Alas, I can't remember those values either...

I tried removing the tdc, cleaning it off and replacing. I then hard wired the aei to the battery and tried again but still nothing. What's your guys thoughts?

Im a novice on the AEI unit what does it do exactly ?
It is basicly a mini computer with a crankshaft pulse target that replaces traditional points & condenser and controls the ignition timing/HT sparking via pre programed ignition curves on engines with a carb.
On injection versions it translates the firing pulses from the ECU to trigger the HT coil.
