A new home for Illiad Blue Ph1 #002

Well, as folk can probably work out... I didn't put too many miles on it, though I almost doubled the original owner's tally.

I bought it to drive but that's when they really started to appreciate and then I was just worried about parts availability etc were someone to hit it. Literally irreplaceable if written-off.

Believe it or not, it was parked in a multistorey while I was happily at work a number of times... within a year or so; the very idea was scaring me shitless! Most of the miles I accrued were in a single trip after recommissioning to go and look at my v8 dog wagon out west. A proper few hundred mile round trip.

Then I got a Williams (or 2) and (another) 172 and the use case was lacking in favour of preserving it so I fully support JC's want to keep it perfect in a bubble. It's what I'd have done had we not moved to a house with a single garage, giving up 4yrs of heavenly double garageness.

I didn't need to sell it, it wasn't offered or advertised for sale and I didn't want to sell it, really, but after almost a year of convincing - I came to the conclusion that it was simply 'better' with Jonny. It lives with an enthusiast, we know it will still be in perfect condition for many years to come and I still get first refusal

If anyone has been stalking the classifieds... I may not be gone too long, not that I'd big a big loss to the community with my huge posting history!

Honestly my favourite car of all time... not that I'd turn down an F40!

Awesome car well done Jonny. I understand both sides of the argument, but I also have a very low mileage original LY V6 and I won’t be using that. I just like to look at it, like a piece of art work. One day I’d like to have a house big enough to have it inside, like a piece of art.

Interesting side to both views, I agree that 2 vee's is the way forward, a higher mileage for driving and enjoying and a lower mileage one to appreciate in all its glory. To be honest we I did drive my previous ph2 I hated it as I was so scared on something happening it in an accident etc or when parked in a car park, they are just like children haha.

You got yourself a real stunning and one off LY George, maybe some day you will let it join me in Northern Ireland ;)

Dom maybe you have something to tell us is there? Hopefully your coming back to the vee family very soon mate

Congrats JonnyC - there's plenty (relatively) of vees being used, so why not have a few low mileage ones kept in pristine condition.

Just waiting to see some pics now.

Nothing to report yet, mate... on the turbo lash last night so will assess Lucy's mood when she's home and see if I can't get to Daz's Sunday.

Got to go to Milan for work the week after next, somewhere else the week after that and holiday for the next two weeks after - need to pull my finger out.

It's such a terrible waste "garage queen-ing" a car...but...it is what it is. I hope you enjoy it in any way you see fit :)

Good look with the car Johnny get some
Photos up. [smilie=yay.gif]

Do what ever makes you happy your money your car. If it was mine I’d do exactly as you are. ;)

I bought my phase 2 last year hasn’t turned a wheel only reason is I have other toys, it will be used in the future :)

this will be sought after in future and genuinely collectible, just wish the dreams and some car dealers will realise there perceived low miler anything over 10 k isn’t collectible to the high end collector who will be willing to pay 100k plus in years to come.

Photos will be uploaded in the next couple of weeks. It is going in for the full detail next week so will get some photos taken after that. I am as excited to see how it turns out as everyone else!

Yes the car was bought as an investment which I can enjoy owning at the same time. Although I say investment I hope never to have to part ways with it as I honestly don’t know what other vee I would buy to replace it with that would become available and would be as rare as 002. I feel it is one of the rarest if not the rarest Ph1 currently in the UK which is why I couldn’t pass on the chance of owning it as it ticked every box for me.

£100k+ in 10-20 years is a good possibility with inflation etc so yes fingers crossed that is hopefully where the prices will head.

Those are some bullish inflation forecasts! Where do you live, Zimbabwe?!

Kidding aside, I hope the values that I think most members of this forum have anticipated, but so far haven't materialised, do so in the next, as you say, 10-20 years. Although I can't help thinking that the 5 Turbo's are a good benchmark, representing the ceiling of V6 appreciation (if we are lucky!).

I bought an old car from Zimbabwe last year Oliver, and I always get excited when lifting out the seats and carpets to see what's been dropped. I found a 5 dollar and a 1 dollar coin, but then under the back seat, a 500 million dollar note and a 10 billion dollar note! I was about to put a deposit on the private jet and Indonesian island when I brushed up on the Zimbabwean economy over the past 15 years. I don't think we'll have one of those just yet, although the way it's going in Westminster, who knows!!

Great car Jonny, and one of the ultimate Vees in terms of colour for a Phase one, and on a different level with the mileage. I would urge you to have a workout regime for the car though just to keep everything moving and working. I've had a couple of 'moderns' that have been ultra-low mileage that I didn't exercise very well, and the re-commissioning took a long time with multiple recurring problems. Even my red Phase 1 had a lot of intermittent problems that took the previous owner 6 months to rectify after the car hadn't been used for a few years.

Something I've had huge problems with over the past 18 months is petrol with ethanol in it really messing up cars and bikes that are not used much. If you do nothing else make sure the tank is drained of any old petrol and just add high octane stuff from Shell, Esso or BP...it doesn't contain ethanol and lasts for a couple of years in the tank.

Looking forward to the pictures!!

The car was warmed up and run out a lot the last few years - just not that far, obviously! Never had an issue with it and had all fluids done when I recommissioned it and all rubbers and perishables were perfect.

Hopefully pick up [v6plaque]079[/v6plaque] tomorrow... my birth year! I say hopefully as I sent the money and the bank reckoned it wont be there 'til tomorrow, after I am due to leave the house. Thanks HSBC. Will probably put more miles on it next week than I put on [v6plaque]002[/v6plaque] in total (~500)! Have to commute to Abingdon for 3 days so we should be well bonded by the end of that.

Looking forward to the pics of my ex! The one I do regret leaving
