Well, as folk can probably work out... I didn't put too many miles on it, though I almost doubled the original owner's tally.
I bought it to drive but that's when they really started to appreciate and then I was just worried about parts availability etc were someone to hit it. Literally irreplaceable if written-off.
Believe it or not, it was parked in a multistorey while I was happily at work a number of times... within a year or so; the very idea was scaring me shitless! Most of the miles I accrued were in a single trip after recommissioning to go and look at my v8 dog wagon out west. A proper few hundred mile round trip.
Then I got a Williams (or 2) and (another) 172 and the use case was lacking in favour of preserving it so I fully support JC's want to keep it perfect in a bubble. It's what I'd have done had we not moved to a house with a single garage, giving up 4yrs of heavenly double garageness.
I didn't need to sell it, it wasn't offered or advertised for sale and I didn't want to sell it, really, but after almost a year of convincing - I came to the conclusion that it was simply 'better' with Jonny. It lives with an enthusiast, we know it will still be in perfect condition for many years to come and I still get first refusal
If anyone has been stalking the classifieds... I may not be gone too long, not that I'd big a big loss to the community with my huge posting history!
Honestly my favourite car of all time... not that I'd turn down an F40!
