Mine was doing it so like everyone else I removed the cover and checked it....tight!

While the arse was in the air I had a poke about and I have worked out that its the passenger side rear arm thingi under the drive shaft (totally not explaining that well but if anyone has a pic of the rear suspension I can point it out)

Its a bush that needs replacing, I noticed it when you grab the wheel 10 to 2 and give it a rock , mega play and a bad clunck. (slightly exagerated but you get the idea)

I do not have a clue how too get too it but now that i know its there I want it fixed, looks like a bumper/exhaust off job :-(

surely someone else has had this prob?

I think you are talking about the machined alloy bit, I had both replaced on mine when it had ony covered 15K 2 years old. I was lucky still under warenty would be intrested to know what renault are charging.
May also be an idea to check out the rear engine mount while you have the cover off mine is knacked easy change have not been to renault yet though.

I do know some one who may be able to help you out if there mega bucks. PM me and I will put you in touch with him
