4 new tyres

JR

Old enough to know better
I caught a flat on the front off-side today. Tyre popped when i drove up a 8" curb i hadn't seen whilst manuvering to avoid a jam. The back off-side also developed a bulge in the side wall. I fittes the spare steelie, are they 14"? It was well worn on the outside edge

As the rear of/s was damaged on the nw meet it was time for new tyres.

I went to kwik-fit as it had to be done asap and it's Sunday. They had some with imitation toyo tread so i got them. £273 with fitting, valves, balancing and a charge to dispose of the old ones.

It's my first set of 4 new tyres. They were all different before. Now the drive is much quieter and hopefully with better economy. They filled the tyres with nitrogen which i hadn't heard of before.

A guy came in saying he'd just got a nail in the side of his nearly new pirelli 6000 which it turned out was unrepairable and cost 110 to replace, ouch!

Ahhhhh cheapy cheapness of owning a R19 hehe

Toyo R888's for my 18 inch rims are £268 EACH!

And my tyres are filled with nitrogen, had them done October last year, nitrogen is meant to be better than air as it stands up to temp changes better ie, wont change pressure.
Nitrogen is also less susceptible to migrating through the tyre which again means more stable tyre pressure over time.
They are also meant to return slightly better fuel economy.

Air by the way is 78 percent nitrogen, just under 21 percent oxygen, and the rest is water vapor and Co2, using pure nitrogen will also help prevent corrosion to your wheels

i got 2 new tires for the clio (15 inch low profile ones) for fifty euro, both pirelli, a rare win for me there

clearly Simon you know little about chemistry then.

I love the mugs that go for the nitrogen fill.

Also £273 quid for 4 tyres? 100% mark up for kwik fit there then!

the guy i go to is some hick in the middle of nowhere but the cheapest prices going, 4 new tires on a nissan micra (13's), fitted and balanced would be 70 euro (bout 50 pound i think)

all brand new, he does nearly new ones for even cheaper, no idea where he gets them but i dont really care, its cheap and cheerfull, unsure of the brands on the micra but the ones on the clio i got off him are all pirelli

hmmm, doubt theyd be fakes, its literally just some old boy with a massive shed in the middle of nowhere that does it, i got the ones for the clio a couple of days before she passed her test so im happy enough with that

268 each tyre, shit!

As for driving to cambs minichapers well the petrol from brtighton would be the difference and i had 2 tyres about to pop and the spare on already :( but when i get my speedlines refurbed i'll buy the tyres and take you up on that offer ;)

these new tyres will pay for themselves in time as i'm now getting 60 miles more out of a tank with regular driving :D

hardly super skinny or stretched 8 inches and 215.

Most places won't have an issue with that at all.

8 inches and a 130 profile or something silly then yeah will be tricky without a cheetah (or similar)

my toyo proxies were 146 for 4 then tenner fitted your a mug going kwiq fit i wouldnt even let them put air in my tires there that shocking,, my yokohama parada spec 2 came in at 4 for 200 fitted LOL 273 i would not like to be you :P

and the spare should be 15inch
