Have been considering this as i have the donor 16v r19, what parts are needed from the r19 to conver the clio rear drums to disc brakes? more importantly, is this possible...
I think it is, not sure, but I think the stub axle that same. So you need to remove the back mounting plate that held in place with 4 bolt's. And fit said 16V item.
excellent, thanks pete, ill research the thing in depth and then make a decision, more and more bits from the valver are making their way to the clio, how long will it be before the engine ends up in there
it is possible as well as the obvious bits (disks, calliper, calliper carrier plate) you will need clio 16v handbrake cables 16 valve centre pin (bit the bearing and lock nut are fitted too) the drum clio one is only just long enough , you also need to use the longer handbrake adjustment bar or complete 16v handbrake and a suitable load equliser, i also found that adding the disk setup to a standard drum clio axle widens the rear track by somewhere between 12mm and 20mm per side no problem for me as i need spacers for the kit might cause problems for a standard skinny clio . a easier route would be to use a 5 turbo or clio 16v complete rear beam.
it does sound liek a lot of hard ship really, more than i want to go through, and either way its still going to only be a 1.2 clio so not really neccessary i think, unless the 16v engine finds its way into the car
