16 valve head. Worth it?

Just reading through and pondering the viability of sticking a 16v head off a newer F block onto this engine here, to give it a bit more oomph.

...not that I've finished rebuilding this dratted one yet anyway

More arseache than it's worth, or the 8v R9 turbo head isn't too bad for breathing? The ports look pretty well designed

the 16V head wont fit, chet has photos of his attampt somewhere, oil feeds are in the wrong place/missing.

R9 turbo (C-type/GTT) head wont go anywhere near.

the f-type head is better than the c1j's trust me on that. The f head responds well to porting btw

Neal, that figures. The oil feed for this one comes up through one of the head bolt galleries which stuck me as mildly bizarre but at the same time didn't surprise me.

Chris, never attempted to port a cylinder head like this- also not really wanting to try anything tooooo radical as getting bits for it here is difficult and expensive.

Heck, it'd probably go well with a SR20DET in it... lol

99% of cars and lorries have an oil feed to the head by a headbolt. Anywhere else it just leaks unless it uses an external pipe

Hm, odd. All the engines I've ever had apart had a seperate riser head to feed the top end.

Not that it makes much difference, just gotta make sure the face where the bolt sits seals in properly.
