Only that it’s arrived at its new home. Seemed like a right mission finding the right car and had to wait a further 4 weeks to collect it, due to belts and clutch etc being done. Its a Nice honest Low mileage original car. By no means perfect but suits for being used, which is my intention. :approve:
Worth the wait then.I've been looking, but the prices seem to be going up steadily...I want something nice, useable but don't want to pay the earth for....losing a little bit of faith to be honest so it's nice to hear your story to restore it a bit !
Don’t give up! Persistence pays off eventually. I don’t have any car trade contacts etc. Just used the normal internet sites and forums to find one. I did have to increase my budget to a realistic figure to get the right car. You looking for a phase 1 or 2?
Looking for a phase 2 ..I have looked at the one for sale on carandclassics on a cat D...Lovely car but I'm in a quandry because it's a "cat"....what do you reckon on the subject ?
As James says above, mainly written off due to parts costs. That one you’ve looked at seems a very nice car. If you take into account the cost of the work done recently, all belts, brakes and Tyres, it makes the price attractive for a phase 2. Interestingly whilst I was looking for a vee I did notice there isn’t a huge price gap between cat and non cat cars comparable to normal run of the mill stuff. On a personal note my renault 5 is a cat d. Was like that when I brought it in 99’ and was recorded on the register in 97’. Never really bothered me as I would never sell it and the person in the street would never know!
Mole, I've recently bought a Ph2 (#24 and the two are fairly comparable cars I'd say, If you want one that Cat D is very tidy and the maintenance record looks excellent. If I'd lost out on [v6plaque]248[/v6plaque] I'd have been viewing that Cat D as soon as it was legal to!
It's worth noting that there is a process to get Cat D markers (sort of) removed if the repair is up to a very good standard. https://www.autolign.co.uk/
It does come up as inspected but it's as such no longer Cat D. Perhaps a bit swings and roundabouts but for the value difference I'd certainly be looking to try it on a cat D v6.
