It's been discussed in the buying a phase one as an investment thread, it would make a good project, but is also a potential money pit if the gearbox is still shagged.

There's no way that's a one owner car, we know of at least 3 owners!

My estimate (unless you can do it yourself):
1-1.5k to sort gear box (inc labour)
600 for wheels and tyres 2nd hand
500-1k for missing parts (arch liner(s) door sill stickers etc)
500 to repair door
1k cambelt and service
+the phantom electrical fault and any other unknowns

Approx 8-8.5k total inc purchase to put it straight.

Plus, possibly cat-d/c?!.

That said, its gotta be worth the money for spares or a track car?!

One for mike brewer & ed china!!!! Lol!!

Hmmm i stand corrected, it looked good at first, it would make a nice track car though.

How easy are the wheels to get, just wondering why he hasn't bothered to get a set.

They are not exactly common but come up for time to time on here/ebay. Possibly lack of £££ is the reason there arent any on there.

I feel like taking a punt on this..

7 previous owners.

Surely it should be worth 4k to work at yourself over the winter months?

Decisions..

I think so!

Id strip it, sell various parts like the engine covers etc to lessen the financial impact, make it into a bit of a hooligan and enjoy thrasing it! :race:

Is 7 previous a guess, or do you know more than you're letting on. ;)

I asked the seller and this is what he said.

If the gearbox issue has been sorted I couldn't see everything else costing too much?

Just been looking at the pics again, what is the big plastic thing in front of the radio unit, looks like an enormous cradle of some sort, also, it looks like the wheel studs/nuts are still on the hub in the picture of the car on the jack, very thoughtful thieves to do that for you.

Has anyone checked out the mot history on this car, makes for very interesting reading, if you need to know more then PM me.

All I'll say is that it's had a very chequered past, and one that needs closer scrutiny, if you want the v5 doc ref no in order to check the mot history alone, then PM me, but please don't put the number up on an open forum, I don't think we would like it.

I was seriously considering buying this as a project over the winter but after reading the MOT documentation on this car it seems it could be a real money pit.

For a car with so little miles its had a lot of major problems and a lot of them do not seem to have been fixed from year to year looking at the MOT documentation.

Think I will stay well clear.
