So do the two circled (red) pipe ends originally reside together? Pipe on the left hangs down from the top of the rear diff I assume this is a broken pipe. What is it for?!

Sadly due to having no time and the wife nagging about money i have decided to sell my quadra. The car has currently about 2 mths mot left.
