Turbo oil return hose

Mornig all, does anyone happen to know the dimensions of the little bit of rubber tubing which goes between the block and the turbo oil drain hose.

Mine seems to be perished and leaking a bit of oil. I imagine easiest way is to get a bit of generic silicone tubing from ebay or whatever to replace it, but could do without having to force it off to measure first!

Something is telling me 19mm, but i’m not 100% sure.

Thanks dave, I’d reckoned something like that. Looks a bastard to get at, I’ve removed it once when I did the turbo.

Place on krautbay has these things

Reckon that will do the job.

Checked, 19mm. I can’t read German but just make sure it’s oil safe too.

Yes thats essential make sure it’s oil handling otherwise it will break down.

They’re actually surprisingly easy to change with the Turbo heatshield removed, unless it still has the one-use factory clips on, but if it’s been off before and has normal jubilee clips it’s a 5-min job.

Whipped it off yesterday and the pipe was fine.

Just the ****y Renault clip at the bottom of course couldn’t compensate for the compression set in the elastomer.

So I’ve replaced it with a jubilee clip and hopefully we are oil tight again.

Hello,

I’m french and if you go in a Renault Garage, they will change this part for free because this leak is well known and you’re exposed to a risk of fire.

Try in UK,
Regards,

In the UK they just did a recall on the oil feed hose and not the drain as far as I know

Yes you’re right, this is a recall, but they made it lately and only for people going to Renault Garage, no letter was sent. I did it when my car was 22 years old,

I was the same  Renault garage and no letter.

However I am sure in the UK they just check teh top oil feed to the turbo and not the return

The original recall (OTS-0AP9) only concerned the high pressure oil feed pipe and not the return drain and owners should have had a recorded delivery letter if their details were correct on the DVLA system in the UK or upon visit to a Renault authorised workshop.
To identify if any vehicle has been checked by any Renault authorised outlet there should be a blue matrix sticker marked D2 within the engine bay, if not just give your local outlet a quick phone call (or pm me) and ask them to check the ICM system qouting the vehicle chassis number, this applies accross all Renault markets.

I got something right today !
