Ricardo's Liquid Yellow 200 EDC

Thought it was time to start a thread for my latest car purchase. Having sold the Megane 225 I was now in the frame to start looking around at the new RenaultSport Clio 200 EDC, the new shape is a big win for me and last year I bought the Clio Media Nav S. This Clio was very much all about comfort and economy, it saw me travel 4500 miles all over Europe twice in the time I owned it giving me an average 60mpg. It really did everything I asked of it, it covered 16k trouble free miles in 18 months and was well looked after.
Then I noticed that EDC prices were falling into my monthly reach. I spotted a Flame Red 200 in Birmingham but it had too many miles, the 2nd was a White 200 in the Croydon branch. I took that for a brief test drive but was sold before I had the chance of going back for a more in depth test drive. Well they say 3rd time lucky, just over 2 weeks ago a liquid yellow 200 came up on Autotrader at a very good price. A few phone calls throughout the week made me decide that this was worth a 566 mile round trip to Vospers in Plymouth the following weekend. A lengthy test drive and finances all sorted I was now the proud owner of this Liquid Yellow Renault Clio 200 EDC.

This thread isn’t so much a project thread but more a progress thread in what I’ll be doing with it and where I’ll be taking it. 2017 should see me booking a handful of track days, this is what the is car was made for.

Well, so far since buying, I’ve had the paint work sealed for the winter. It had Bridgestone run flats fitted up front so they’ve been taken off and had the OE Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres fitted. This week I’ve ordered a set of Cooksport lowering springs, I’ve booked the Clio in for next Monday to have them fitted.

Cracking looking cars these. They have grown on me massively looks wise

Credit due to K Tec Racing and Interlink, I ordered the Cooksport springs 10am yesterday and they arrived lunchtime today.

Lovely looking car Ric, I look forward to seeing it in the flesh next year

Cheers Chris, would be good to catch up soon

Whats the legroom like?

Mind if I ask what the monthly payment is? I’m about to free up a fair wedge every month…

Plenty of legroom up front, not too bad in the back. I’ve had 5ft 10 passengers sit in the back and they say it’s ok.

The car was 11.1k, I put down 1.1k and the payments are £200 a month for 42 months then a balloon payment. Prices are coming down on these and have seen them go for 10k

As said before, awesome car in the best colour available!

ORLY.

Thats far too low to not be an option.

Whats MPG like?

stunning

With what I earn £200 a month was my limit, I used the money from the Meg to pay the deposit and clear the finance on the other Clio. So yeah 11k is right for me, the white 200 was 12.5k, 2k down and £220 a month.

To be honest mpg is a mild concern in everything I drive, book figures can be different to real time. On the drive home from Plymouth which was 99% motorway driving it peaked at 36mpg. The next fill up I had 120 miles to £30 of V Power at £1.22 a litre, average was around the late 20s. I keep it mostly in auto mode as there isn’t much places to go stupid. I imagine on track in RS mode it will go into teen figures but obviously that’s what it’s all about. At the moment it’s sitting at 32mpg average, i always make a point of tripping it every time I fill up. I’m coming from an ultra economical diesel that averaged 58-60mpg but know with it being what it is and a 2nd car Im happy to take the hit.

How many miles @Ricardo ? If its only running in it will only increase.

Its also direct injection but I have no MPG figures from another DI car to compare it against.

13.4k miles so far

I bet it will open up a bit more yet ..

It certainly will next Friday…

Hmmm. That would cost me £11.70 a day to get to work and back. Approx. Currently about £9.

Hmmm.

That was peak mpg for the whole 260 mile drive home. I know with my Megane 1.9dci on a decent run it gives me mid 50s mpg, to and from work which is a 20 mile round trip it drops to say 41-43mpg. The last couple of times I’ve put V Power in the 200 its averaged between 28-32mpg, and that’s being OK on the loud pedal, no real use of RS mode.

Anything above 20mpg is acceptable

30’s make me feel like I am saving the world a bit

Whenever I used the wife’s c1 1.2 3 pot beastie makes me chuckle at just how frugal it it for a little petrol with a surprising amount of go and playful chassis

31mph red line everywhere up to mid 50’s on steady 70ish run and best was mid 60’s on very stead run

No tax, tc, electronic diff, big opening roof, dab radio and reversing camera crazy little thing

I do look like a big gay bear driving it mind lol

How are you getting on with the missing pedal?

While I am sold on the rs3 new generation of dsg and will be using in the conversion I still question myself on a manual setup

You don’t need a car to highlight that
