Parts

Dose this mean when Avantime 10yrs old Renault stop sell Avi parts ??? 8-X

They won’t stop Tony. But they are no longer obliged to supply the parts that keep the cars on the road. Normally this means the units that commonly fail will become hard to get, and eventually be remanufactured by a third party if the demand is there.

Manufacturers are obliged to hold parts for old models until 10yrs after the model was sold. So, come 2013, Renault do not have to hold parts for the Avantime, though they will usually hold onto parts but not reproduce / reorder after this date.

BUT’ as we know Renault are very fond of putting up prices ie;- Roof rack from £230 - £800 ,Wheel caps now £78 each they must be more !

There is two ways of looking at it:

  1. To pay for the cost of storing the part on a shelf for a number of years before it sells.
    against
  2. Discounting it to sell it, for the part to become NLA after the 10yrs are up.

There is no legal obligation to provide parts for ten years, it’s an industry wide agreement, that’s all.

Mike is correct, I recall that differential now.

Just a suggestion here, but could we have a section dedicated to part numbers which could list the part number/alternative or aftermarket part number as and when members have used/refitted that part and also to pool the knowledge already held by members. Just there seems to be a lot of confusion over the suspension parts for our cars as to what will fit as an alternative to the costly renault the parts. eg I have kyb rear springs fitted which are fine although they are not listed for an ava. They are the 40mm lowering kit for the espace and there are other alternatives mentioned on here as well. It would be much easier if we had these listed in one place.

They a parts catalog on the Leboncoin.fr covers a lot vel satis Avantime and more ,

What do you make of it? Perhaps our Italian contacts can check it out … Hmmm.

The Uroglas screens when they are ready will all be heated and are probably going to cost around £600 so a little cheaper than the Italian ones and available from UK stock for direct purchase or supplied to insurance approved windscreen replacement companies.
