Lads & Ladettes.. after nearly 2 years of lockdown I’m looking at getting back out to the Nordschleife over the weekend of 22nd - 25th October 2021 and wanted to put it out there to see if anyone else fancied leaving their homes and socialising for the weekend as well?
Those of you who have been before, know the score. Those of you who have not, then the weekend usually goes something like this:
Friday:
Early Crossing to France
Drive to Nurburgring area
Drive the track if you fancy
Couple of beers
Dinner
Saturday & Sunday:
Drive the track if you fancy
Walk to a few corners for viewing
Few beers
Dinner
Monday:
Breakfast
Drive back to Calais/Dunkirk
Crossing home
I typically stay in Adenau, as there are lots of Restaurants and Bars you can visit in the evening, but I know that some people love to stay in Nürburg at the Pistenklause - but you pays your money, you makes your choice.
My days of fully organising such events has long passed, but still like to put it out there if anyone fancies it.
Just an FYI, although the UK will allow us to travel abroad if double vaccined without doing a COVID test, France,Belgium and Germany require a lateral flow test within 48 hours of travel…
This is not going to be done at borders or anything, but police will do random checks…
As we know, brits are targets by the police most of the time for speeding etc… odds are will be the same for COVID testing…
If you have a box of lateral flow tests, I recommend carrying a box in the car with you… do 1 every day of travel etc…
Not if you have had your shots, or it that different if your from the UK?
By the way, I have had only to show my QR-code in France when I went to restaurants…
