Thought it was about time i started my project thread as the car is being sorn and garaged on saturday ready for the winter build.
Going in two stages
-Whip the head off fit turbo and basic ancillaries to get it up and running work out any niggles and stuff, run for 100 miles or until it dies
-Full engine out rebuild with low comp pistons, forged rods etc etc, including custom made rad, chargecooler and other polished bits.(Its good to know ppl that make the above for a living )
Replace standard brakes with 4 pots and overhaul the rears.
Slam it on coilovers and various other bits and bobs.
Will post up pics as i collect bits and work gets done as soon as i can upload photos off my new phone.Damn technology.
Tell me about it mate, i managed to get a 100 miles outta that £10 i put in just out side of pod lol didnt think i was gonna make it home ! Shame we couldn’t have played with that scooby and what ever it was that went past lol
i know i saw you pointin and i nearly went for it but had to restrain myself. At least i got to show up that corsa full of chavs with a massive exhaust on the way out of northampton.
Right after having all my tools nicked from my dads yard a couple of months ago i thought with it being payday on wednesday i should go and get some new tools, with my old man
nicely saying he’l go halfs on whatever i buy.
-Tool chest with all the basics
-New Jack
-Engine Stand
-And wheely thing to slide under the car.
Fixed the door on my council garage so i can actually work on the car now.
But the phase 2 wheels back on, and now im just wasting petrol cos ive got one more day before its sorn.
i think that the conversion can be done now for around the same money and cams and throttle bodies 3k.
cams and bodies 200bhp 220bhp
turbo 220bhp low boost 250bhp high boost.
plus if you doing a 1.8 conversion i have found low comp pistons for 200 new.
Got a couple of pics of the bits ive collected so far, nuthin special just thought id share
320cc injectors
2 bar map sensor
250bhp chip
a dump valve and some random silicone hosing i found on a peugeot diesel turbo at the scrappy
Quick update recieved my manifold and downpipe today although the downpipe doesnt look quite right i know the flange is wrong for a start but thats not a biggy as i can cut it off and weld a new one at work, it just doesnt look the right shape
looks like the prima one mate, better setup imo as theres a plate that bolts to your turbo that then fits that triangular fitment with 3 sprung bolts like the o/e mani to downpipe valver fitment, give flexibility in the system
