Hi All
After getting my other cars MOT and on the road It is Now time to get back to the Gordini turbo first view pics before I dig it out and put in the booth
whats the plan? full resto or just a tart up?
Been off the road since 1991 ,I’ve owned it 8 years , its in really good
nick so it deserves the full resto .I did have it running when I first had it . Want to get it as near to factory as I can .
Hi All
Sorted every body else’s stuff out this year so 2018 is the year of the gordini turbo . Had a mate help move stuff around and dig it out from the back of the shed . He also had a lorry load of enthusiasm is what is needed I find .
Had not look at it for quite a while, it’s in good shape for its age . I will take a few pictures later. Sorted most parts , from memory the headlining is my only problem, any advice welcome.
head linings seem to be the stumbling block, i am also in need of two did you manage to find them anywhere?
cheers
Pete
For head linings have a look or discuss with www.lesselliersdudomaine.com .
Ive heard very good things about they products from them and also about to place an order for my turbo 2 headlining.
cheers i will have a look
Just had a quick look , very impressed, Trying to find a uk trimmer to compare, but if I can run it , it looks a good option .
I know a few Turbo 2 owners that have tried in the UK with no great success. I think they are in the region of 700 GPB though…
any updates ??
No updates at present , I have 3 or 4 hours tomorrow to strip out some more stuff. Can’t decide to go bare shell or keep it rolling , Got to pull my finger out ,I take some pics . Not much welding . Panels in front of A post both sides and sort the roof out I pulled a Caliper of the front , pads are like new have a date on them of 27 07 1984 and the discs will clean up front and rear . The picture is of the rear arm with the factory mark still intact then my phone went flat
Yesterday was a disappointing, running round after everybody else and work limited my workshop time to a hour , so no progress at all, but turbo is going to turbo technics for a rebuild and wheels going to be refurbed . And a mates has offered to paint it at mates rates .
I always ran 185 60 13 on my GD turbo’s in the past , any advice on this welcome. Nice shiny alloys and new tyres is great for inspiration
look forward to the updates
One of my all time fav cars ![]()
Sold mine a few months back as I just never used it. The intercooler conversion is a massively good thing to do. They pink a lot in hot weather as they have such a hot inlet temp, not good for the engine at all and really saps performance. Are you planning on rebuilding the engine as there are some good mods you can do while the engine is out to improve reliability and tuneability. I’ve had 2 monster ones over the years and know what works so if you have any questions just ask :0). Couple of pics for inspiration :0)
Think 185/60s will rub if you lower it - ok at stock ride height. Dropping one spline lowers them about 60mm - undriveable at 2 splines down on the torsion bars
Thanks Tony
I’m think I am going to go all standard and factory to start with to match the Gt turbo ,if you intercool it would have to be gt turbo carb etc , I was thinking may be a charge cooler replacing the feed pipe, easier to put back to standard ,
No updates at present , work taken over as always ,
Engine to be strip cleaned and rebuilt any advice on bits and mods welcome , always built with standard parts in the past , had the head ported and polished and removed any hot spots to reduced pinking after a light skim , it went pretty well after that .
Hi everyone I’ve just joined the forum, I have a 5 gordini turbo but it’s as rotton as a pair, I’ve had it for 25 years now there is not a pice missing but as I said it’s rotton needs a reshell, anybody have an idea on its value?
Thanks Eddie
Hi Eddie
Hard to put a value on your car , would like to take a look , I’m just in Northamptonshire on the Oxfordshire boarder so not to far away from yourself . Finding a decent shell is getting harder , What colour is your car ?
