I am not entirely sure, I will measure for you. I have heard quite a few say that the throttle body is too large, I’ve no experience so not entirely sure what the ideal size is? Any idea?

Ideal size depends on so many factors! Basically the ideal one gives you enough resolution but won’t restrict airflow too much. Mind you, a meg 225’s butterfly is only 38mm so this one won’t be too small for sure :slight_smile:

Basically Mark, bigger is better until you get to the point where the TB is so big you are effectively at full throttle without being at full throttle… if you stuck a 100mm TB on it you’d get to about 50% open and the other 50% would make no difference whatsoever to power.

Deposit paid for new inlet, I like new shiny things. @DaveL485 you want me to hold on to this MT manifold for you ?

Not much going on this week, been away for our first wedding anniversary.

Manifolds are off and currently port matching new manifold gasket. This time I’m going to use some high temp sealant too. Plan is to seal up areas on inlet that are leaking with a thin bead of Tiger Seal. Also need to find new IAT sensor as the current one is leaking too.

I’ve been chatting to Matt Rowley about other additions so I’ve gone ahead and ordered a 3inch down pipe to go with inlet. I’ll also order a tubular manifold and 3" side exit once these items are complete.

All my gauges are going to be re-wired next week so they are safe and reliable plus I’ll have the added benefit of being able to use closed loop fuelling.

Yes , yes it is !

It’s all back together, new gasket on both throttle body and manifolds and all is well. Now for a solid summers use starting with some 60-100 timing this weekend. Last set up was 5.7 sec so a good benchmark to work from.

Once summers over bolt on Matt Rowleys custom parts to see if we can push a bit further. Plus get diff fitted to refurbished box.


Took a trip over to Castle Coombe today to visit Merlin Motorsport, at one point I entered in the wrong place and almost ended up on the track, that would of been fun.

Anyway, picked up my third Stack oil pressure sensor due to vibration failure on the other two. I got them to knock up a hose to relocate onto side of strut. Pleased to say I now have a working gauge again and hopefully with any luck it will last this time.

It’s not perfect or pretty but secure and functional.

Yep I have new manifolds being made but won’t be ready for a few months so removed current manifolds, replaced gasket and used some copper high temp gasket sealant. Then took the current inlet and tiger sealed around the seams where it had been leaking. Idle is much better although not perfect, just needs richening up a touch on map.


My auto electrican buddy came over tonight and rewired all of my gauges professionally as to honest I was expecting an electrical fire any day. I only wired them in temporarily for mapping so definitely needed doing properly. I also believe this was what was causing my funky idle, yes my shit wiring !

Whilst he was at it he connected up the AFR gauge to ECU and ensured they shared the same earth so I can run closed loop fuelling which will be set up at next mapping session.

I’ve also finally gotten to the bottom of my misfire problem. After hours spent swapping plugs, fitting new manifold gaskets, pressure testing and changing various sensors it turns out that was all a waste of time (well worth doing I guess as now know all those faults are fixed)

It turns out it’s fuel surge causing lean misfire, yep despite the fact my gauge shows 1/4 tank it’s causing surge. I also noticed that after taking a few deep corners, a u turn or even off a roundabout it bogs unless there is a good amount of fuel in the tank, thats what it was all along.

So to solve it I’ve bought a fuel swirl pot to be delivered next week, plan is to run another pump and plumb in asap. Also need to look at my fuel sender as it’s clearly reading WAY out.

Yeah if you put an extra £20-£30 fuel in it’s all good. I might actually fit brand new fuel pipes, the lot whilst I’m at it. It could do with replacing.

Instead of fitting the swirl pot couldnt you fit a baffled tank ? I guess logically though the swirl pot is cheaper.

Yeah I reckon I could do swirl pot set up for no more than £150.

Are you having both Manifolds made up ?
