Remember the car? It seems i dont have pics at the start but its a relatively quick build with pics as it was futher along.
This became available as a rolling shell, comprising of :
Rollcage already fitted.
Fibreglass doors, the white race number squares were removed.
Polycarbonate/lexan windows
Fibreglass tailgate/spolier.
Fibreglass bonnet.
Corsa b electronic steering column, returned back to oem.
172 front struts/hubs, replaced with Gtt/ gaz coilovers.
The bulkhead had been modified slightly for a previous engine, reversed and covered with some red oxide.
A known good engine fitted, along with a carb rebuild, a fresh coolant tank, silicone hoses, radiator and some shiney bits
The kit was missing. A fibreglass replica ph1 kit supplied by youngtimers was attached, all but the underlight trims. They are oem but had been painted before. Being far from oe, no filler applied to improve the imperfections in the kit. Applying the stippled effect
The request for the the kit is oem grey, but with bumper gel applied. Achieived with a 2pk grey and less matting agent than oem, making it satin, or in this case a little less
Adddin the front arches was tricky. It previously had wide arches as part of the wing mould which had been trimmed off, not leaving much for the new ones
I have plenty clips to add but unable to upload as in they are the wrong format, i’ll post when i suss that out.
Bob has since seen the car while being used. He regretted selling such a good shell and made robin an offer. It has been sold back to bob and has undergone furher works..pulling it all apart and turning it back into his hillclimb car
I knew you had bought it back, to revert it back to how you had it. A reasonably tidy shell anyway, i didn’t realise you were going full make over on it!
Looking forwards to the updates.
Not only good reading, but the amount of info you can pick up from threads is amazing. I just repaired a Clio sill with something I saw on another thread, it worked amazingly well.
