Its a 2009 twingo gt in a metalic red colour. Purchased/exchanged as a modern eco warrior daily. Not sure what will happen with it yet, defo needs some wheels and new tires though.
She has what looks to be a ktec exhaust system fitted and it isnt too intrusive at all, some lowering springs and some hideous wheels with no name tires fitted for that damp roundabout drift sesh everyone loves…Drives well to be fair and seems to run on fresh air. The little 1.1/1.2 (depending where you read) 1149cc turbo looks to be boosting at around 8psi giving a factory 100ps (99hp) or 104bhp on overboost. I can see a little ecu reflash happening in the future maybe with a decat and bigger injectors.
I had a blue gt new back in 2007/08 was good fun. Had the 133 a couple of years back too both fun in their own way. From looking at the gt its a renaults parts bin special. Brakes are the old skool valver setup by the looks of it, so could do an easy 285mm brake upgrade same as the r5 gtt.
just given it a quick look over and found a bmc panel filter too
My daily is the Citroen flavour of 1.2 3 pot turbo (110bhp) and for what it is goes ok and was a choice based on cheap, comfortable for the motorway, worry free and runs on air also. In the last 9932 miles in 5 months has a total average of 53mpg!!! Driving miss daisy (left wallet at home) from Warrington one trip was average of 72mpg wtf!
Bonus also get a lot more back on petrol for business miles
So i have a slight plan of action for the twin-go-slow. a few areas need sorting for me, the suspension and wheels (so coilovers needed) brakes (either 285mm txi brakes or some sort of hub swap for 172 items) and the engine… fmic, proper downpipe, air filter, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump and then remap) that on the engine will probably push the limits of most of it but should see a solid 140/150bhp according to the web, theres also the possibility of further with a hybrid turbo and an uprated clutch. hopefully i will still have it and its still usable for next years national day (y)
wheels should be sorted this weekend, i have a set of clio 172 16inch wheels on the way, ill prob swap out for 15s at a later date. not sure how they will look yet though as ive not seen a twingo on them.
first week of ownership has been uneventful, daily buzzing around car, got a dodgy airbag connection somewhere and it has a common twingo issue of a couple of dash lights illuminating dimly. Other than that its quite sprightly to drive around, id actually say its more like a stock 5 gtt than the twingo rs was as a replacement.
wont be a generic for sure, im yet to contact scoff to see what he can do but have already had contact from rstuning who can take it on. to be fair ive seen very few reputable graphs showing above 130bhp but then in the same breath no one actually doing much to them or trying things?
Not many do anything to them, most are owned by people who just want it as a normal car and then kids who want to throw £100 coilovers on them and make them look and handle as bad as they can!!!
I’d quite like to get one to have a play with and see what can be done with them.
That comment made me smirk as I picture you driving down the road with the air bag deployed and your face squashed against it trying to see where you are going.
wheels are here, big thanks to @Spooky for collecting them from swindon and bringing them along to the shire. will get them fitted and see how they look soon
Nothing mad mental or scene tbh. Just a set of clio 172 sport wheels. The 5 spoke 16s off the ph2, will try and fit them over the next few days but been flat out moving house. I got them for a few reasons, the ones already on there offend me alot, they were cheap and they give a little nod to RS. no doubt once i sort some coilovers i will go back to some 15s though.
sooo my car was really shit on some no name tires, felt scary at 15mph on wet corners… turns out the previous owner fit the directional tires on the wrong way round! anyway, this eve i threw on the 172 sport wheels. i think they suit it though need to be pushed out 20 to 25mm to fill the arches a little better. looks like a baby flamer clio.
