Between other jobs, thought I would start looking around YHK 813X and see what was lurking beneath, before I knew I had started a full strip out, at least I can get on with the re-spray now. Overall not too bad, small hole to rear floor where a plug was fitted, new n/s quarter panel in the past along with the rear turrets welded, front inner wing holed at the base where the muck gets stuck, front bumper still to remove and n/s front wing.............

He he, couldn't help yourself hey?
No time like the present, and seeing as winter is on its way there, good time to start!
Would like to see progress photos if you don't mind, always interesting in seeing other 5's being restored and fixed up, gives me and others inspiration to keep ours on the road and maybe try that little bit of resto work!!
I've just removed the nipples and plastic fixings for the lower door panels on mine, welded and primed but need to rub back ready to paint!

Photos when I get the time,
All the best, the forum is coming to life once again!!

Removed the front bumper and nearside wing today. No major issues just some tidying up on the front and n/s wing stood up to the electrical screw driver jab, so better than o/s/f

i'm always aware of being worst off, this was the car I sold last year, the photo of the car was before the repairs...................

    i476.photobucket.com_albums_rr128_5gordini83_DSCF5972.jpg
    then I tinkered....

And then on a different subject and getting ahead of myself the new decals arrived today, not originals but close enough....

I have found a place in Holland that does the full Gordini set

I initially purchased a Alpine set, but realised the Gordini decals which they also sell are not scaled properly, so I contacted the guy direct with sizes of what is on my car currently, he charged £23.00 for the Gordini and G5 x2 sets, so lets hope they stick when the times come...

Getting ahead of myself - I have found a french company with the original fabric that will make a full set of cover for about £500! Some way off from that at the moment though!
