I made my parents buy a 19 when I was 15 or so. Loved that car, got to drive it a few years after I passed my test. Was a white gtd with 5 spoke alloys, had a body kit on it which was Renault stamped from memory but couldn't tell you much about it now as I didn't know much about cars back then.

Wanted a 16v in dark blue but ended up with the 5 in the end. Someone was selling one with a roll cage but no engine on Facebook, was tempted but didn't have time for another project :(

I run a R19 as my daily commuter. Not sure it is up to Australian conditions as all the plastic interior has disintegrated. And I have had to replace the gearbox, when it started to sound like a siren from quiet to very noisy in about 3 weeks. When I opened it to see if it was worth a rebuild, was full of iron filings, but gear faces seemed very good still ???? so just bought a good replacement . Running well again. Now got 240K (km) on the clock. Radiator system has been changed to simple flow system, works much better in the heat of West Australia.

My UK R5 TL/1.4 was a better car.

I used to own a 19 16v, I don't recall how it came about as wasn't looking for one. Cracking car and had it for ages, it was just lacking a turbo. Hence the 21.

:ak:I have an R19 16v executive sitting in my friends field in Kent....poor old thing.
I think it's only got about 85k/90k on the clock.
Would only be for spares now I guess.....
