Where can I get an addtional remote/key fob

Hi all, Im picking up my 53 plate ph2 car this weekend, and one of the first things i need to source is an additional key fob. The car only has one key/remote with it. Does anyone know this is something I can purchase from somewhere other than the main dealers? Looking through google Im seeing prices around £140 for a key and then £70 labour to reprogramme.

I lost my Renault Laguna key card last night and I phoned Renault for a replacement this morning. The wanted Photo ID, VIN number and take a photocopy of the log book. This would be sent to France and the 5-10 days I would get a replacement key for £220 + VAT.

I googled a few Auto Locksmiths as then did a phone round. Some quoted me more than Renault but I found one very helpful chap who undercut everyone and came out and reprogrammed a key he had in stock there and then. http://www.autolocksuk.com £200 Inc VAT for a complete call out mobile job. Took him about 5 mins to sort it all out.

I know its a different motor than the Vee, but I think you should be find a similar Auto Locksmith near you. Phone around and find a good firm that will not bullsh*t you and provide a sound service.

evans halshaw (renault) sheffield, charged me £160 ( i think they gave me 20% discount)............ordered it when i had service done... took it back in 2 weeks later when they phoned and it took them 20 minutes to program ect...........martin
 
thanks for the replies guys, I phoned an independant renault specialist who has the electronic gear for programming and they quoted pretty much the same as a main dealer, so I may as well go to a main dealers.

Brought my replacement key fob from Advanced keys, trade only but be nice to them LINK you want a AKRM19 from memory for about £39 and a uncut key blank off Ebay £9 so total cost was £50 then my local renault specailist programmed the new fob for £30 plus vat making the total cost £80 ish, main dealer want about £60 to £100 to programme.

Just a local high street locksmith £8 i think. watch out some renault dealers by these replica fobs and sell them as original renault ones for £90
