Got in the car the other night from work and felt a squidge??? had a feel around and under the accelerator and behind the drivers seat were really quite wet!!! checked all the obvious like no drinks were spilt or the tyre foam.

Just torn the cartilidge in my knee so can't rip out my seats and have a good look, just wondered if anyone else had this or heard of it, i'm hoping it is not a spilt in the floorpan/bulkheads!!!!!

Have heard of clutch fluid leaking in the pedal area due to chaffing on the pipe.

This would not explain the wetness behind the seat - so perhaps water leak in that case.

Has the car been parked out in all of this rain lately? If there is no odour or colour to the leak I would suggest you have a blocked drain and the rain water is taking the route of least reistance. Check all the drainage areas under the windscreen scuttle and also make sure your door seals are sound, water runs down all sorts of channels and ends up at your feet. Pain in the arse I know.

mine had the same when i got it. in the end there was a slight weeping through a joint in the chassis. took it to Renault body shop, they water tested it with the carpets out and this showed up the problem. I recommend you do the same, the last thing you want is your car smelling of rotten underlay and carpets.

Have you had the windscreen replaced?

Might sound stupid but on my Pug 106 I had a new windscreen fitted and the fitter left a small gap in the adhesive was just enough for the rain to get in took months and many visits to the dealers to establish what is was.

Made the carpet go manky and everything.

cheers guys, some good suggestions there, wanna try and get a good look in the car myself b4 i take it to the muppets at renault!!!! ( by the way any suggestions on a good dealer up north??)

Trouble is i am on cruthes at the mo, waiting for a knee op so may have to wait a while b4 i can get out and have a rumage. but yes the car gets used everyday and gets left in all the rain we have been having.

Get your self a cheap car cover mate at least it will stop the water getting in temporary.

Halfrauds do them cheap.
