Vee on the Rollers.

Made a trip to falkland y'day to find out the power the Vee was putting out. From previous experiences most V6 owners have had figures ranging from 240-250bhp. Down on the Reno claims, but thats hardly a shocker. I was hoping for between the two. Cars Got an aftermarket exhaust and was apparently remapped.

After pissing about for 20mins, tryin to get the car secured, the boys managed it, All engine covers off and Kev was sweating buckets! - Trust me it gets warm in the car with the covers off, In excess of 30deg! Even with the boot open! HA!

When i bought the car i was given a remap chip, So i asked Kev to see if the Remap was still on the car or if it had been wiped - Again no shocker, Reno had wiped it off! So this Run was in std form.

Very impresses with the run, Granted RR's are a bit hit or miss, But i was impresses with Kev's knowledge and the setup he had in the garage.

So 251BHP!!! - 135mph in 5th gear, he was bricking it! I asked him how the fueling was throughout the run and his reply was priceless:

-"Aye fine till about 90mph, then i was too shit scared to look at the monitor!!"

Unfortuneately after the run we noticed a small oil leak, think it was from the gearbox, So we didn't want to risk another run. Either way Kev agree'd to redo the Remap that was on my customer key and Bloody hell what a difference, so much torque and noticeable quicker top end! 7600Rpm now aswell!! Yehhaaa - Can't wait to get the car on the rollers again! It'll defo be higher.

For the scotland boys, can't recomment Falkland high enough, Kev is brilliant and not just a business man like many other traders!

To put the icing on the cake, had all the geometry set up at IF motorsport today aswell, Night and day comparison and i'm going back next wk to try a few other tweaks to the damper rebound rates...(Vee does strugle a big over bumpy surfaces!)

Cheers

Good figures them mate. Was the 251 with the map back on again?

How come the garage run the car up in 5th gear? I was under the impression it was rather dangerous. All the RR's iv been to have run up in 3rd gear. Maybe 4th if its a big powered engine. I.e 350 bhp upwards.

thanks for all that, very interesting

good read out that for the vee that!! 251!

That's a fun day you had.

Report more on oil leak please.

Will do James, i hope it's nothin serious, left the car overnite and there was no dripping on the ground...Will investigate tho.

Steve, the RR should be as close to 1:1 as poss, so 5th gear was the chosen cog. Generally spking it's one gear down from top.

And no the 251 was without the map, i'd imagine it's a good bit more! - I could catch a friends DC5 fairly easily!!

Should of done a run again with the map done. Back to back runs to show increase / decrease.

What torque did you get? Can't really make it out.

Didn't want to risk it mate, as i said there was a pool of oil under the car...Doesn't seem to be leakin now, but i want to get it checked out! Feels noticeable quicker tho! 5th and 6th gear is immense!

Torque was 209.
