V6 re-painted, now also with splitter!

Hi All,

I've been meaning to post some pictures up for a while now of the goings on regarding the Vee this year, but I just didn't get around to it.

So the year started with the dreaded cambelt needing doing for the second time since I've owned the car, so off to Scott's for a full service, cambelt replacement + a few other bits and pieces. Nothing major extra this year required, as the brakes were all replaced recently, tyres all good, clutch replaced recently, etc, etc.

Following this, I decided to finally re-spray the front-end of the car. The car's had no paint done since I've owned it (7 years now) so the bumper and bonnet were in a pretty bad shape (dents, chips, grounded bumper, etc). See below for the condition of the bumper pre-paint:

Now off to my local paint guy, and the result I'm very happy with (iPhone doesn't quite do the colour justice):

I was very much torn as to whether I should go for a paint guard or not, and I decided against it in the end. So the next thing on the agenda was to get a new splitter, and very kindly Russo helped me out and made me one of his great splitters (big thanks!).

I had a great drive out today around Bucks. Some pictures of the splitter, and the drive out:

Wowsers!
I love the new look!

The Russosport splitter is very serviceable too - so any future dings to that can usually be patched up with resin filler and canister sprayed in satin black on a DIY basis.

Well done Phil.

Wow!! That looks Fantastic!!!!!

Really like the look of the splitter, should offer your new fresh paint some protection. :approve:

Looking factory fresh once again, great work Phil :approve:

[smilie=thanks.gif] for the positive feedback with the splitter and glad your happy with it [smilie=yay.gif]

That looks Ace, well done! :approve:

The splitter does look good - a couple of questions: Does it affect the front end dynamics in anyway, and how much lower does the front sit once the splitter is installed?

Difficult to say without a wind tunnel.
I think the front feels slightly less 'light' at speed - but that might be psychological!
The Russosport splitter has a cradle for the rim of the bumper - so only sits fractionally lower that the bumper itself. Ingenious!

Yep not sure either. I imagine it probably does a little bit.

It lowers the car by about 2/3cms as it does sit very nicely up against the bumper.

Hmm... I thought it was less than that.

Maybe you've got a duff one? Lol! ; )

lol!

Haven't had a chance to get to the garage to measure the splitter. Will do next time I get the Vee out (if I ever get it out again this year!)

As Kett said, the splitters are designed in a way to loose very little ground clearance.
Would imagine it being only a few mm's not cm's ;)

Scott's just had my bumper painted and it will be finally fitted with Russo splitter :)
Can't wait now to get her back after winter works!
