v6 Outdoor cover

Well am looking for a vee currently ... but when i get one i intend to do about 2000 miles a year max ... i have no garage to use so i want a really good car cover to keep it nice and dry and clean all winter etc. i willing to spend the right price for the right bit of kit that will not damage car .

Can anyone point me in direction of a good cover / place to buy . i would pref like summit heavy duty and high quality.

Rent a council garage close by?

I'd never use an outdoor cover due to concern over the fact once the wind kicks up it's going to kick the cover around, get grit and dust up and onto the car, then the cover will move over the top of that grit and dust.

Always garaged mine, whether at home or rented.
Had a rented garage once 15 miles from my home, then one 1 mile from my home, then last year got a house with a garage.

Mine is used when parking at hotels before car shows, and when my garage is out of action.

It's very tough but gentle on the inside. See an old group buy topic we had some time ago. LINK

From what iv heard car covers will trap in the moisture and speed up rusting or damaging of the paintwork. My parent works for the council and for 22pound a month to rent a garage big enough for the V6. Lucky enough I have a garage at my house or that would be my next option.

surely if you buy a top of the market cover its must be designed not to cause issues ?

I dont think storage is an option where i live unfortunately

just had a look now ... was on phone this morn

Wow they are impressive ... however i couldnt have one of them on the drive , i think people would think i was mad lol :troll:

But they look great bits of kit .. if i could keep maybe behind house or in garden somehow

We live on a farm so to keep the general dust off when it's parked outside (which isn't that often really) I've used the outdoor halfords cover (triple layer)- size M. I'm sure lots of people will now jump on it, but in my experience its been great, fits like a glove (elastic and straps to stop it moving around) and its fully breathable. I've recently bought another for one if the other cars.

Do you use it all year round rain and snow and its doesn't ever soak through etc and you had no issues with car paint work ?

How much are they

Cheers si

Only trouble with any car cover that you will always run the risk of getting micro blisters coming out, that why I like the carcoon as it moves the air about ,and no risk of micro blister

So is it the movement of the cover that causes the issue , do u think if the cover was fleece lined it wouldnt have issue / if it was secured down very well to eliminate / reduce movement .

had my classic additions custon light weight cover (club discount available) now nearly two years with no problems.
Infact very easy to put on and off, washable and compesses in to a small bag for storage.

I think if you keep the car waxed/detailed you shouldnt have any worries ;)

It was around £65 I think.i don't park the car outside all the time but I used it for about a month in bad weather whilst I used the garage to prepare another car. The Medium size is almost tailored to the V6, it's quite uncanny really. I never had any problems with it letting in or trapping moisture and it even saw some snow. As long as the car is clean when it goes under and it fits snugly so doesn't move around, you should be fine. If you're ever in Warwickshire in your V6, pop around and you can try it for size.
