V6 lunacy to Inline-3 total lunacy

After finding the Acid a new home, I was fairly content to be pressing on with the project cars: Ph1 V6 that SGM is fettling for me and a tatty 996 C4 coupe (manual/non-sunroof model).

However, as my teenage boys won’t be at home much longer, I wanted to acquire something that appealed to the younger generation. I also wanted a 2+2 configuration for days out to create memories. The i8 ticked all the boxes and the protonic-red limited-edition was an antipathy to the usual BMW monotone colour palette. The butterfly doors are pure theatre!

Very nice indeed! I love these, they still look incredibly futuristic.

I had a Mini countryman PHEV as my last company car, apparently had the same engine and drive train as the i8 but detuned. Was a good bit of kit and I was surprised how many journey I managed on electricity alone given its relatively small range. I particularly liked that you could toggle between electric or petrol or use both at the same time. :approve:

Very much so. Champagne supercar on beer money. I deliberately acquired a pre-April 2017 model too (Dec 2016) as the VED is £0.

Future classic?
BMW say they aren’t going to build any more carbon-fibre passenger cell vehicles. Numbers wise, the total production worldwide was similar to E30 M3.
Protonic-Red edition was only available limited numbers and included some nice interior carbon-fibre and ceramic inlays.
Butterfly doors have never harmed the value of McLaren F1 or Ferrari Enzo models either. Lol!

Remarkably, I’ve already been invited to attend some supercar socials…
A summer of fun beckons.

Ah, so you were serious with the i8...well done. :approve:

Looks fab in your chosen colour combo.

Enjoy!
