Upcoming work

Hi guys, the time is looming! come July my cambelt is due, I want to do that, dephaser pullys, clutch and a full service while the engine is out! Any ideas where I can get the best parts for these? I know we have RPD but just wondered if anyone had any other experience of other places? Thanks all

From what ive read it operates in high revs to increase valve overlapping, and as a result, lower emissions, thats copy and pasted by the way, but ive also read that if it does go you need to change the cambelt as well? thing is if im doing the cambelt I may as well get the dephasers in advance and if need be change them if not I can just sell them or keep them, there was a 3 month waiting list last time I looked! [smilie=icon_eek.gif] since I bought it there is a very quiet tapping from them from cold start up briefly or so it sounds, and ive been advised thats what its likely to be.

Makes sense on the clutch I suppose, If I remember right it's still original. I'd be more concerned about who's going to do the work?

Yeah I think I'll do the clutch deffo, it's the cheapest bit! I have a client who owns a garage, trust him implicitly, he's ex military and obsessive with perfection which suits me fine! I can't justify a trip to sg tbh, i trust this guy as much as I would anyone.

OK cheers Sam, makes sense. How much and how many of these dephasers are there?
No tapping noise from me so hopefully I'm ok for now. Like you say next cambelt change.

I believe there is 2 but im fairly clueless! Just think while it's out get it done! (that sounds dodgy) seems to make sense!

Sam,
You've either got 'balls of steel' or you're as 'mad as a mental asylum seeker' to get a non-specialist carry out the cambelt service.
I think the procedure is the automotive equivalent of open heart surgery... which is why I didn't rush to get mine done at the 5 year mark.
: D

Yeah i can be pretty mental at times! But I want mine done at the 5 year mark though really, it would be a shame to not keep up such a comprehensive history!I certainly don't want to take it to a dealership and there's not really any specialists near me I don't think! it's only a belt though right? And only a standard v6 engine. As long as he timings are spot on its fine! I'm 100% confident, they've had vees before. It's all nuts and bolts just a different car. It's extremely special to me this car so I deffo want this guy to do it. He's been in the trade 35 years and worked on more or less anything.

Although you do raise a good point kett, I could wait a bit longer and get it sorted at Scott's or somewhere closer. Just worries me leaving it!

Your only a couple of hours from Scott's, I would strongly recommend SG Motorsport to all owners.

Whilst not knocking other garages, there only one garage that has such a comprehensive knowledge and experience of clio v6's.
