Thermostat Housing Gasket?

Hi all,

Going to be replacing my coolant thermostat this weekend and have already bought the part itself from RPD. I noticed on the "How To Guide" its sensible to replace the thermostat housing gasket at the same time. My question is:

Do the mk1 and mk2 engine's share the same gasket? (I assume they would do but want to double check!)

Thanks guys :)

Nick,

It's not a gasket like a paper gasket or anything, which you might be thinking. The guide's talking about the rubber ring which becomes dislodged and blocks the thermostat. Part number is same for ph1 and ph2.

Have you got some help lined up?

That would make perfect sense. The part i ordered from RPD comes with the rubber gasket included. For some reason i thought there may be a little paper gasket for the actual housing.

Yeah pal, a friend of mine who works for Audi is going to give me a hand. Running the car up there on Sat so we can abuse his collection of work tools! lol
