Renault Clio V6 power lap: 1:36.20 (wet)

Yep, The Stig spins it, but eventually manages to match the time set by the AM Vanquish. :approve:

Full Top Gear episode here: LINK

Found JC's attempt to explain away the 911 range rather hilarious :)

Evo timed one against a 250 cup and it was only a second slower around some track iirc.

Quick if you know what your doing. I dont lol. Need some track time.

Amazed at that! I've watched the Top Gear Vee segment far too many times! Indeed as soon as I saw it originally I decided absolutely I was going to buy one.

I wonder where that Mars resides now...

Have you seen the reviews from Tiff and Richard Hammond? Hammond's test appears to have been in France, at the very first press release, as per the pic posted by GPH recently of all the ph1 cars lined up together in France 8)

Indeed I too wondered what became of that Vee. Wonder why Top Gear did not use a UK press car - perhaps this episode was shot before the Phase 2 was officially available in the UK?

I have seen YouTube clips of the reviews you mention above, and the one of JC doing his thing with the Mars Red Vee ("the boot is only big enough for a kipper"!), but never seen Stig's timed lap in the wet. I don't recall seeing it on TV either when the episode was aired in June 2003, but back then I was a committed Porschephile (the air/oil cooled variety) and even the 996 Turbo that JC waxed lyrical about in that episode wasn't of interest. How times have change.............since I now have 2 Vees and no Porsches!
