The shed, revived!

VII Car Care

New Member
Hi all, here Is my new shed! Daisy! I dashed to bath last minute Tuesday (I think!?) evening threw the lashing rain to view her, not my best Idea! 2002, two previous keepers with 71k on the clock. It was only the next day when the rain stopped I noticed all the dings L 16 In all! Oh, and the lifeless paint oh and mullered wheels!

So, Thursday evening I gave her a thorough wash & clayed with dodo bs & purposeful purple. The clay did a great job, but some area’s needed going over twice, It was that bad. No wash stage piccies I’m afraid!

So, just a few of what she was like from picking her up

Correction. I braved up & had a go with the chicago rotary, what a beast! I really found It quite difficult to control, but I did the entire correction with It as I couldn’t believe how quicker It Is than the da!!

So, Menz orange pads & po85rd, keeping the panels spritzed with megs last touch. Very pleased with the results. I wasn’t after 100% correction, just wanted some colour put back In her cheeks ; )

No particular order btw!

Day one, Saturday was the correction day done by 3.30pm. Then down tools to get down to Yeovil, Somerset to pick up some alloys.

So, Sunday morning I cracked on with refining with 106fa via the G220! This really brought out the fleck In the paint : ) Then, on with the wheel cleaning for a break! Tardis!

I wasn’t happy with the centre diamonds, so I rubbed em down & sprayed them. I then machine polished the faces of the alloys with a menz pad & polish, applied Werkstat prime strong & red mist today.

First layer of Blackfire polish applied & wheels fitted. Much better already.

I then applied Blackfire paint sealant. In between applications I have been using Gloss It Enhancer, I forgot to mention! I love this stuff! Last night I got a thin layer of SN wax on, then dressed all the plastics with SN Trim sealant. This morning, another wipe over with GIE, wheels wiped over with red mist & tyres dressed. Last coat Of wax applied today during lunch. This evening I went over the body with red mist tropical J Windows cleaned Inside & out, much needed!!!

I need to get a new headlight as Its crappy Inside, I also changed the side repeaters as they looked terrible! Also on the cards are some lowering Apex springs as going around corners feels like she’s going to roll! I’m very pleased with the results J

I still have the dreaded task of the Interior & engine bay! Plenty of time for that though.

Cheers

That's seriously awesome work Dawn! Remarkable how the paint work has come up given the starting point :thumb.

Stunning job! Top work! Fascinating read. I got a matching pair just like you a vee and a standard clio :) great minds do think alike ;) although i have got a lot to learn on cleaning and detailing!

EDIT: BRILLIANT PICS! :approve:

Blimey Dawn! That is real effort. You have transformed that 1000%

You should win top prizes for this dedication to detailing and loving care.

I would love to see that to take plenty of pics and notes. We could have a mini-meet at the same time:) I gave Emma a heart-attack when she heard how I look after my vee. Sorrry dont mean to jump in David.

Thats superb Dawn. I have been thinking of getting a very similar model for a run about but the general condition of them aren't usually that great. If I do get one, expect a call!! lol

lol, cheers peeps! Im very pleased with the outcome, the dents need to be gone asap!

I'm up for a detailing meet! ;) If any one needs any help just call! I better clean Betty or she'll be feeling left out!

cheers guys :approve:

quite a transformation... looked at the first few pictures on CS and thought it'd had a hard life and looked a bit rough but has come round really well :approve:

consider something that isn't Apex possibly - they get the look but based on what they're like on a 182 they ride horrible and ended up sagging - 40mm lowering springs were between 50 and 55mm lowering springs when we took them off! Eibach possibly if you can get them?

Impressive as ever...Sod all that taping up tho...Can't imaine the seals are in that great a condition anyhooo!

Looks very nice

and you gota tape up the seals yes they might not be in the best nic but they would look even worse with white polish and wax all over them, much easier to cover them up than try and get the polish and wax off !!!
