The rebuild continues PH2 cat D

The never ending rebuild contines, its only been off the road for 3 years now, by the time I have finished it, 18,000 miles is going to be VERY LOW mileage for a 04 car..

Any way no rush, it could be a classic collectors car by the time i finish it.

It does not seen like the bargain I hoped it would be.

Parts brought
secondhand,

one front wing, bonnet, 2 headlights, rear wing scoop, one spot light, half a V6 clio floor pan for sill section, air con rad, sill cover, front subframe, front wheel, front bumper blade and front legs.

Parts new

Front bumper, 2 arch liners, front lower grill, front upper grill, front subframe under cover, front bumper under cover, air con dryer, rad surround plastic, door, door skin, mirror, 4 new tyres, one spot light, renault badge, 2 headlamp washers, clips etc.

Parts repaired

Rad mounts, front wing.

£1100 for jigged repair work side and front., basic only left for me to finish off

And its a Cat D !!!!

A update in about 2 years at this speed.

How much, well I stopped stopped counting at 9K should be £11K finished I hope. That's with me doing all the repair work, but still I am saving one from the big scrap heap that all V6's seem very keen on getting on.

Think I found the reason for it's demise tonight, broken front nearside road spring, may well of caused it to spin out, broken for a while looking at the rust on the broken ends.

Imagine being a club member and a dealer or some other place giving you 10% off a car spring. That's £20 saved so far.

I'm not touting for trade though, so just ignore me and upload your pics to Photobucket, then you can post them anywhere on the forum :)

test fitting of panels checking the gaps. bonnet failed the test so replaced.

A noticed the previous owner might well have put different front springs on the Silver Vee. He did mention doing it in July 2006.

Good to see an owner of a cat d happy to show the process and work involved and with a lot of enthusiasm too - well done and keep up the good work ...

So many new freinds already, well two

These two way to rebuild a car, hide the facts and look ashamed or dishonest or be honest and be proud of what you can achive if you try.

I guess it's all a bit late now (and maybe too expensive) but there is another thread on here with availability of new bodyshells - which have probably not been available easily before.
