My GT3 has been sold (gonna miss that car so much, some great memories) so the hunt starts now!

I want a Clio V6 (PH2 - Mars, Black or Silver) as the car will be a weekend toy I see it as an event to drive.

But.... I keep looking at Cayman's (2.7's as the 3.4S engines are unreliable)..

V6 (PH2). Porsche Cayman 2.7
0-60. 5.8 5.9
T/speed 153 158
Price £14-15k £15-16k

I think it maybe the fact there are 20+ Cayman's for sale, so the mind starts playing tricks..

(Yes, I know I am mad asking a Clio V6 forum this..)

Thanks for the replies. :approve:

How much for the cayman dude? Personally I thin anything other than a 911 is cheating [smilie=icon_eek.gif] (sorry) just don't make a decision until you've driven a vee.

Thanks for the reply, I have had 3 911's (993 C4- 993 C2 - GT3) and after a mate getting a Cayman found the car to be more fun (ok not a quick).

On paper (apart from top end, but how offer do you drive over 100mph) they seem very well matched.

Lol, sounds like the mk1/2 argument! Personally I think just DON'T do anything until you've driven a vee, admittedly I'm probably never going to be in a position to buy a Porsche, I do secretly like the cayman too. Thing is the vee isn't about the speed or handling really its failry quick and personnaly i think it handles extremely well. It's just such an occasion! And fun for others on the road to see, I imagine you'll love the cayman but I'd put money on it, it you pulled up next to a vee in it, you'd wish you made a different decision. you're right though, it is a vee forum

Nt a fan of Porsches sorry. You'll buy, keep for a year or two, get bored and want a vee again!!

The cayman is a better balanced car 50/50 weight and will always out handle the vee. The vee even in ph2 is more akin to earlier 911s in terms of tail heavy and requires a similar driving style. It's more of a challenge to drive but more rewarding.

The thing is the v6 is an oddball with bags of character that gets under your skin. There's loads of better, more sensible and newer cars for the money that you could go for, but none of them are a hatchback with a dirty great v6 in the middle of the car.

Caymans will continue to depreciate like boxters do, but the v6 will hold its value.

i get where you are coming from mate with the lack of cars for sale . i have been looking at audi rs3s

A Mates got a 2.7 Cayman...........at first very interesting, now just a little boring...........only took me a month to realise this.

If you're coming from a 911, just go for something else rather than another Porker or you'll just be comparing the two in the back of your mind all the time.

Best of Luck with now buying a V6 :)

Show me the V6's for sale!!!

Come on some of you owners... Put it up for sale and let someone else play!

:race:

right up my street this one,
I had a porsche 996 C4, I sold to get my VEE,only last year,
The porsche was, faster, handled far better, easily better build quality, no rattles or shakes, reliable, better interior etc, but typical german engineering made it a bit boring to drive,

my car is none of the above, but give me a clio V6 any day,

Been in the same boat back in 2010, I didn't fancy any of the vees for sale at the time so bought a six month old R32. . . . I came back after a year lol

Different car, but you may find yourself back. The Clio is a itch which won't go away

I can kind of understand your choice between a cayman and v6.
But how could you go from a gt3 to a cayman? Surely it's a fair few steps backwards.

If the choice was between a gt3 and a v6 I'd have to pause for a second, but a cayman, no thanks.

Only gt3 I have experienced of is a 997 gt3 but would love a mk 1 gt3 in Zanzibar red.

Cayman, no thanks, I'll take a Vee, any one any colour all day long.

:approve:

I can see the logic Dan: It can't be much fun looking for a Vee right now.
Cayman is a more accomplished car too.

Would I chop my Vee for a Cayman R though?
Not on your nelly.
Why not?
Really sorry, can't explain. Maybe read the 'Best thing about the Vee' thread and try to figure whether a Cayman would evoke the same emotions.
