Swirls....

Ok so, usually when I clean the vee I use 100%corton cloths to wash. I use autoglym shampoo and condition, then deep cleanser, resin polish, hi def wax then lastly a gloss protection. I still get minute swirls, only at certain light. The car looks awesome when its done and you av to really look for the swirls but it bothers me! Any deas? Should I use sheep wool MIT or microfiber instead of the cloths? Should I not use a chamois leather or maybe get a new one?

Use a drying towel instead of a chamois and a sheep or lambs wool wash mitt, lambs and sheeps wool has deep piles too trap the dirt. Also use the two bucket method for washing with a grit guard in both buckets.

Swirls are inevitable...You will never stop them no matter how much you try.

Sounds like you need a full detail, and then brush up on your washing technique. I'd suggest (Father Xmas list)

x2 Gritguard Buckets
x2 Swissvax Waschpudle
x1 Polish Bliss Ultra Plush Drying towel

You only need to polish your car once a year and realistically you should only need to wax it 3-4 times (however there is no limit)

I've posted a few details on mine if you search my started threads in this section.

As Ali says you will never ever be able to completely avoid them

Ive had a rotary polisher for about 18 months and still trying to get completely to grips with it, you can get rid of swirls easy but you need to be careful. Avoiding buffer trails is what im trying to achieve these days. DA polishers wont give 100% correction but are a good introduction to detailing. If you want to help avoid swirls you may be interested in a nano sealant like the new Dodo Juice infinity range or the incredible Gtechnique coatings....pricey but will help reduce scratches alot.

Dawns the queen though (as shaun says) and will be able to offer the best advice [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Cheers all, I'm getting a lot better tbh I'm just really fussy, I've spent a fair bit on different products when it's freshly waxed it looks like new, like you say just need more practice :approve: good shout on the mits/ buckets though that's the next step for me

If you already have swirls then just washing the car won't remove them. You'll need to have the paint corrected/detailed - it is possible to do yourself but depends on confidence/competence.

Try PoorBoy's White Diamond - it's a light glaze/filler and can be used to hide minor swirls/imperfections. Works brilliantly on my Iceberg :approve:

Cheers Tim I'll try that, tbh it's not even really visible, once waxed/ polished it's perfect and no sign of any swirls, just after a few washes they appear a tiny bit in the sun, I think it's the chamois too which is now in the bin! Drying towels on order :approve: Ive signed up to detailing world now sadly so I'll keep my eye out. I really enjoy this sort of stuff so by the time I'm finished it'll be perfect. My civic (sky blue) is fine but mars red is a b£&@h! Cheers for the advice guys.. [smilie=yay.gif]

Meguiars do a grit guard bucket which also might help. :approve:

Cheers matt, I use the 2 bucket method currently and I'm really careful with grit... But that bucket is cool! My mrs will think ive TOTALLY lost it if I put it on the Christmas list.... How do you go about asking your wife for a new bucket :s

lol I've just done the same. :approve: Probably get a Wilkos bucket and sponge (or brillo pad) with some Fairy Liquid :)

I suspect your wax might be filling in some of the swirls. You should strip it all back with a wax remover, see how it looks, and if required run a pollisher over it. Only re-wax it once you are happy with the finish.
