Who has the superchip fitted to their car? Is it a plug and play chip?
How much is it

They re-write the existing ecu by plugging the car into a laptop.

Had one on mine previously. Biggest improvement was throttle response.
There's a dyno printout from Superchips on here somewhere showing the gains.
approx £300.
You get a "Key" with the original ecu map so you can revert if desired.

Ive got a superchip in my new Mk1, does anyone know if they are any good, I've had experience of these plug and play chips in other car tuning circles and found them to be a load of tosh... Im tempted to revert back to standard to find out what its like...

Does anyone know how to change it back? I have the original key.

Thx Ashy.

Think you'll need the Superchip dealer to do it.
I only noticed the difference when I changed back to standard for nitrous.

Was it a positive or negative difference?

Supposedly you gain about 10bhp and similar torque which you can't really notice day to day.
You might find it shaves 1/1000th of your 1/4 mile.

Most noticeable thing reverting back was the throttle response. Felt rubbish as I drove away from the garage. Didn't really notice the improvement when it was chipped, but could definitely notice the decrease in responsiveness going back to standard.
